Nursing Programs FAQs
Testing is offered year round in the Testing Center
You must go to the website to schedule the test and pay online .
There is a study guide in the bookstore for the HESI entrance exam.
Test scores are good for TWO years from the date the test is taken.
HESI RNET or PNET
TABE if PN or PCA programs
Testing MUST be completed by the time of the application deadline date .
Do not wait until too late to schedule the test!
Pre-Requisite courses
Pre-reqs will count in the point calculation IF they are completed in the
term the application deadline is in. For example, if applying for PN
program, pre-reqs will count for points if taking classes during the
summer term since the deadline date is August 1 st . If courses are taken in
the next term, which is Fall, they will not count in with the points.
Nutrition & Pharmacology are open Fall & Spring to those who wish to
take one or both as pre-reqs. The summer courses are reserved for those
who have entered the ASDN program. If you have taken a different kind
of nutrition or pharmacology class, you may choose to take the Nutrition
or Pharmacology challenge exam. You need an 80% to pass either of
these exams.
Science courses for ASDN
Sciences must be within 5 years for ASDN program. These sciences MUST
be no more than 5 years old on the application deadline date .
If A&P 2 is older than five years then you may take Essentials of A&P as a
refresher course OR you may request the A&P2 challenge exam. This is
offered in the Test Center. You need a 75% to pass the A&P2 exam.
If Micro older than 5 years then you may re-take Micro OR you may
request to take the Micro challenge exam. The Micro challenge exam must
be ordered and will only be offered TWICE a year. You must request this
NO LATER than February 1 st in the spring and August 1 st in the summer.

When the exams arrive, you will be notified and then have a few weeks to
take the test. You need a 75% on the Micro exam to pass.
Typical student schedule is Monday through Thursday 8-3:30.
Be aware! Clinical hours will vary greatly. Most are during the day. However,
there will be clinical times that will be either in the evening or on the
weekends. ALL students will have to do various clinical times. NO exceptions .
Working
Should not work more than 20 hours per week
Working more than 20 hours interferes with time for schoolwork
Program course of study and Expenses are listed in each brochure. Please
keep in mind expenses include ALL items necessary to complete the course
of study. Some fees are listed, but are paid through student fees. Some
reflect items such as licensing testing expenses. Licensing expenses are NOT
paid to or by the school and not incurred while in school.
