CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION & SPORT LOUISE A. WILLIAMS AND JANE McNAMARA ENDOWED SCHOLARHSIP – MAJOR OF THE YEAR The Louise A. Williams and Jane McNamara Endowed Scholarship, established in 2003, serves to recognize and honor deserving undergraduate students majoring within the Department of Physical Education and Sport who have demonstrated excellence during their collegiate careers at Central Michigan University. Louise A. Williams and Jane McNamara came to CMU during World War II, taking positions in the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Department where they coached women’s athletics and specialized in teacher education for women planning careers in physical education. The Selection Committee will consist of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Student Advisory Committee. The selected students will have their name engraved on a plaque located within the Department of Physical Education and Sport. A dollar amount will be given but is to be determined based upon the amount the endowment has generated. Eligibility Requirements: 1. Applicant must be in their junior or senior year of study. Applicant must submit an unofficial copy of their transcript (available from Warriner 212) with their application. 2. Applicant must have a signed major within the Department of Physical Education and Sport. Applicant must submit a copy of their signed major with their application. 3. Applicant must submit a current résumé. 4. Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 overall grade point average. 5. First preference will be given to a student who is a resident of Isabella county. Evaluation Criteria: 1. University academic performance (grade point average) 2. University leadership/Non-university leadership 3. Statement of career goals 4. University recognition 5.
