transportation and/or class information! After two absences, your grade
will be affected! Please refer to section 6.5.
Withdrawal Policy: See current AWC Schedule of Classes for deadline. The
instructor will not drop a student from the course. If the student does not
withdraw from the course and fails to complete the requirements of the course,
the student will receive a failing grade, “F”. Also, grades will be given out

withdrawal from the course.

EVALUATION— Grades are based on the student’s total sum of points within a
weighted grading scale. The letter grade follows the college grading scale. Any
questions can be referred to the instructor for further explanation:
Textbook and Class Assignments (20%)
Assessment (25%)
 Placement: Pre- and Post (exit)- testing
 Tests and quizzes over course materials
 Final Exam
Myreadinglab and other Computer-assisted Learning (20%)
The Wide World of Reading (25%)
Class Participation, Interest, and Attendance (10%)—Again, you are expected to
attend all classes. Absences may occur due to illness and personal reasons;
therefore, you will be given two absences with no questions asked. A third and
fourth absence can be made up within the Speed Reader lab; however, you must
get Mr. Briones’ OR my signature for time served—45 minutes makes up one
absence. A fifth absence will result in your grade dropping by one level. With
every absence after the fifth, your grade will drop another level which may result
in a failing grade for the class. Note: Three tardies = 1 absence!!!
