Call your classmates for transportation and/or class information! After two absences, your grade will be affected! Please refer to section 6.5. Withdrawal Policy: See current AWC Schedule of Classes for deadline. The instructor will not drop a student from the course. If the student does not withdraw from the course and fails to complete the requirements of the course, the student will receive a failing grade, “F”. Also, grades will be given out weekly, if you carry an “F” more than three consecutive weeks, then you should withdrawal from the course. The letter grade follows the college grading scale. Any questions can be referred to the instructor for further explanation: Textbook and Class Assignments (20%) Assessment (25%) Placement: Pre- and Post (exit)- testing Tests and quizzes over course materials Final Exam Myreadinglab and other Computer-assisted Learning (20%) The Wide World of Reading (25%) Class Participation, Interest, and Attendance (10%)—Again, you are expected to attend all classes. Absences may occur due to illness and personal reasons; therefore, you will be given two absences with no questions asked. A third and fourth absence can be made up within the Speed Reader lab; however, you must get Mr. Briones’ OR my signature for time served—45 minutes makes up one absence. A fifth absence will result in your grade dropping by one level. With every absence after the fifth, your grade will drop another level which may result in a failing grade for the class.
