Summer Transportation Camp for High School Students at Florida International University WHAT: The Summer Transportation Camp is a two-week program conducted on the FIU Engineering Center. The program introduces high school students to transportation engineering and bridge engineering applications, and careers in transportation. The experience will help pre-college students plan and prepare for college. The program will include classroom instructions, hands-on lab experience, field trips, and group projects and presentations. Students will have an opportunity to learn about the different tools and methods transportation engineers use. Students will gain hands-on experience in traffic animation, driving simulation, traffic data collection and analysis, basics of bridge engineering, seismic behavior of bridges, accelerated construction of bridges, health monitoring of bridges, and more. SPONSORS: Sponsored by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) and in partnership with the National Center for Transportation Systems Productivity and Management (NCTSPM) (www.nctspm.gatech.edu) and the Accelerated Bridge Construction University Transportation Centers (ABC-UTC) (www.abc-utc.fiu.edu), the program will be conducted by transportation and bridge engineering faculty and researchers from the FIU Lehman Center for Transportation Research (LCTR) and ABC-UTC at FIU.
