Make sure to cite any quotes used.
You should have at least one sentence that leads into a quote and one that leads out.
You want the persons ideas to flow smoothly with your own.
Use a simple introductory phrase.
Use an independent clause and a colon after the quote.
Incorporate the quote into context of your sentence.

Put quotation marks around direct quotes.

Put the correct punctuation (period, comma, etc.) before the first quotation mark and inside the last quotation mark.
EX: She said, “I can’t wait for the concert Friday.”

Direct quotations involve incorporating another person's exact words into your own writing.
Quotation marks always come in pairs. Do not open a quotation and fail to close it at the end of the quoted material.
Capitalize the first letter of a direct quote when the quoted material is a complete sentence.

Indirect Quotations

Indirect quotations are not exact wordings but rather rephrasings or summaries of another person's words. In this case, it is not necessary to use quotation marks. However, indirect quotations still require proper citations, and you will be committing plagiarism if you fail to do so.
