ALADIN REGION AND ITS CENTRALITY
Some notes on ALADIN mission
• ALADIN is started as an agreement of four
universities from Austria, Croatia, Italy and Slovenia:
the Universities of Graz, Rijeka, Trieste and Maribor
• The original – informal – group was larger, including
also Hungary, Germany, and some South-East
Countries, in particular Serbia-Montenegro. These
countries still want to cooperate. Serbia is already
formally entered. Many others, including Greece,
want to join the initiative.
• ALADIN starts 2-3 years ago with the need to:
– Work together to support, through ICT innovative
applications, the creation of an EuroRegion
Some notes on ALADIN mission
In particular:
• working together to fuse – transnationally –
some crucial activities and systems:

• using – horizontally - some new instruments
as extended e-learning and interactive multivideoconferencing
Some notes on ALADIN mission
• reaching these goals – as key actions –
by interconnecting

and logistics, and on ICT applications
Some notes on ALADIN mission
• ALADIN is started with e-commerce – in the
widest sense – in a very reach environment
created in our region by the University of
Maribor, in particular with two very special –
annually rated – events:
– the e-commerce Bled Conference
– the Executive Meeting on Cross-border
eCommerce Development in the Region
