Agritechnica 2015: Frankfurt, Germany 21st November 2014 - The agricultural sector has never been as pertinent in the global marketplace as it is today. With a growing population and declining natural resources, there is an insatiable requirement for new technology to tackle the challenges, and a global gathering at which the industry can meet, discuss and see this technology for themselves. Agritechnica 2015, which takes place from 10 to 14 November (preview days 8 and 9 November) at the world’s largest exhibition grounds located in Hanover, is the place for this interchange to take place. Aptly titled “People, Technology, Innovation – the Future of Agricultural Technology, “ Agritechnica 2015 will focus not only on the newest in technology but also on the management, services and smart farming methods that are becoming so crucial in the industry. Agritechnica is not only the largest agricultural machinery show in the world, but also the most international and comprehensive, and registration is now open for potential exhibitors to reserve their place at this all-important event. The vastness of the show and its international dimension are reflected in 2013 exhibition’s record attendance of 450,000 visitors. Agritechnica is a crucial event for farmers, contractors, dealers and manufacturers from not only Germany but internationally. Nearly 2900 exhibitors from 47 countries had stands at the exhibition, with over 50 percent, or 1500, of these being non-domestic. The proportion of international exhibitors has grown steadily over the last ten years from 33 percent to 52 percent, with this also being reflected in the number of international visitors. The 2013 event had 107,000 foreign visitors which is equivalent to one in four of of all visitors coming from outside Germany. The countries of Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria, France, Ireland, Denmark and the United Kingdom all made up a high proportion of visitors, however it was significant that attendance figures from North, Central and South America rose to 8900 visitors and Oceania to 2000. The agricultural trade sees Agritechnica as a forum to launch and explore new ideas, working towards each event to use it as a shop window for the very latest and future machinery and concepts. Research conducted during last year’s event indicated that more than two thirds of farmers attending Agritechnica considered the current business situation of their farms as good and with this, the intention was to invest in the next two years. This information provides a strong incentive for manufacturers to continue to take advantage of Agritechnica as a key event to launch the latest machines to professional farmers looking to capitalise on new technology. Complete exhibition programme with two new halls As always, there is full programme of exhibitors presenting the very latest machinery to their customers. This all takes place in modern, ground-level halls with a staggering floor space of over 424,000 square metres, which will include two newly-constructed halls, replacing two halls that will be undergoing refurbishment. Product areas at Agritechnica 2015 include: - Machinery, equipment and management for professional crop production - Tractors, transport vehicles and conveying equipment - Machinery and equipment for tillage, sowing and drilling, fertilizing and irrigation harvesting forage crops, grain, root crops and maize/corn harvest processing and conditioning - Plant protection and plant care - Machinery and equipment for fruit and vegetable growing and other special crops - Farm inputs (biotechnology/seed, fertilizer, plant protection agents, fuels and lubricants) - Components, drive technology, spare parts and accessories - Electronics, agricultural software and Precision Farming - Machinery and equipment for forest management, municipal applications and landscape care - Renewable energies, energy plant production and renewable industrial raw materials - Services for marketing used machinery and equipment - Management, information, science and research - Systems and components Following the success of the Systems and Components exhibition focus at the 2013 event, this sector will again be catered for during the 2015 exhibition with a distinctive area for system, module, component and parts suppliers. This exhibition sector has around 800 companies that showcase chassis, cabs, vehicle electrics and electronics, drive systems, transmissions, engines, hydraulics brakes and steering as well as tyres and wheels, all supplemented by research and development initiatives and business promotion. This underlines the importance of Agritechnica as an event for suppliers as well as a customer-focused event. Agritechnica also offers a ‘Match & Meet’ service that enables users to identify potential partners from around the world based on their online profile information. For exhibitors and visitors at Agritechnica the ‘Match & Meet’ service opens up a valuable new channel for targeted communication with interesting business contacts before, during and after the show. Innovations driver for agriculture Agritechnica is the most important platform of the agricultural machinery industry for introducing new machines and equipment. This is evident from the nearly 400 innovations submitted to DLG by exhibitors. In particular the steadily growing use of electronics offers farmers new opportunities on a broad basis for necessary increases in efficiency. Agritechnica is the most important innovations driver for the agricultural sector. This is where large numbers of solutions for the future are presented. Agritechnica-organisers are farming specialists DLG, the German Agricultural Society with over 25,000 international members, is the organizer of Agritechnica. DLG has a long international history and was established 1885 around the same time as the first tractor was launched. DLG has a Competence Centre dedicated to furthering speclialist agricultural knowledge and as such is responsible for providing key input to the international technical programme of Agritechnica which includes many international conferences and 180 highly specialized forums. DLG’s test centre for technology and farm input is the largest in the Europe and plays a key role at Agritechnica in its knowledge of legislation and testing requirements for future machinery. The DLG also has an extensive network of young farmers throughout Europe who contributes to the young spirit that reside at Agritechnica. The average age of Agritechnica’s visitor is 37 years old. The Agritechnica show is organized by a full-time professional exhibitions department that organizes more than 15 exhibitions a range of countries. With offices in agriculturally important countries such as China, Italy, Poland, Romania and Turkey, DLG is able to ensure that Agritechnica has a relevant international reach and addresses timely regional topics. The last Agritechnica saw a record number of 17 country pavilions. National pavilions at Agritechnica are often organized by export promotion organisations or an association of ag machinery producers of individual countries or states. Countries that participated last time were: Argentina, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, Finland Japan, Pakistan, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Turkey and USA as well as regional pavilions from Saxony (Germany) and Northern Ireland (UK). Exploring emerging markets A proactive information exchange between manufacturers and emerging economies is crucial for such an internationally strategic event, and the new event series which started in 2013 will be looking at knowledge transfer in such areas as Rice Production facilitated this. More than 1350 visitors came from African countries and the same number from India, making the exhibition a crucial forum for not only European farming techniques but also for international cropping. To meet this growing requirement for an international element, one new event for 2015 will be the Agritechnica Special: Major Crops Worldwide, which will focus on sugarcane, rice and cotton. And further to the framework introduced at the 2013 exhibition allowing international experts to explore market potential and access avenues as well as financing conditions and technology requirements for China, India and Southern Africa, there will again be an Access to Emerging Markets Conference. This concept will focus on certain geographical areas such as Ukraine, South-East Africa and Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC). Young Farmers forum Farmers often say that they do not own the land they farm; they merely borrow it from their children. Without a strong youth movement in the industry there is no future, and Agritechnica is a melting pot for new ideas, concepts and innovations for future generations to explore. More than 20,000 young farmers attended Agritechnica 2013, gaining access to career information, job forums and research opportunities. It wasn’t all work though, with 4000 young people getting together for the renowned Young Farmers Party, which saw international YouTube stars ‘The Peterson Brothers’ performing live.
