Position: Global Marketing Manager – Grocery Sector
Department: Marketing
Background: The U.S. Potato Board is in the process of filling its full-time, Global Marketing Manager – Grocery
Sector position. This position reports directly to the Marketing Programs Director.
Position Description: The incumbent is responsible for developing and managing the domestic and
international marketing programs designed to increase the demand for potatoes and products at retail and to
provide retailers and shippers with tools to help them maximize sales in this category. A detailed position
description is included below.
Compensation: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 starting depending on experience
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Life, LTD, Vacation/PTO and 401K
Location: Denver, Colorado (alternative locations will not be entertained)
Starting Date: February 1, 2016

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Title:
Global Marketing Manager – Grocery Sector
Report to:
Marketing Programs Director
Purpose: Develop and manage marketing programs in the US and international markets that promote increased demand
for potatoes and potato products at supermarkets and other grocery outlets. Provide grocers, shippers and others with
tools, research and insight that will allow them to maximize sales in the potato and potato product categories at
supermarkets and other grocery outlets including online. Develop understanding and support of the program among
industry members.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
 Develop the strategic framework for the grocery programs in the US and international markets
 Determine the best activities (promotional, educational, research, etc.) to be carried out within the budget
parameters provided
 Manage agencies and international representatives by planning, directing and evaluating programs; establish
key messages and copy points; approve development of assets
 Develop and maintain good working relationships with the target audience of supermarket and other grocery
chains in the US and international markets
 Ensure coordination and cooperation between grocery programs and other program areas to assure that an
integrated approach is maintained and overall messages coordinated between all programs
 Coordinate the Board’s supermarket and grocery programs with US fresh potato shippers, potato product
suppliers and potato processors
 Represent the Board as spokesperson at conventions, tradeshows and special meetings. Make presentations
and manage participation in events both in the US and international markets
 Increase industry understanding and support for the Board’s supermarket and grocery programs by
communicating program activities and successes through industry communication vehicles, including bi-line
columns, press releases, industry update stories and special publications
 Direct research and evaluation of supermarket and grocery programs and consumer actions at supermarket and
retail, including analyzing sales data
 Analyze sales and other category management data as well as research on the supermarket and grocery sectors
and present findings to the US industry in an effective and useful format
 Help US growers, shippers and processors to become more involved in international markets and to utilize the
Board’s supermarket and grocery resources and tools in the US and international markets
 Meet all requirements for USDA Market Access Program (MAP) and other international market development
funding; including writing Unified Export Strategy (UES), Country Progress Report (CPR), Success Stories and
other reporting requirements
Other Duties:
 Participate in the Produce Marketing Association, United Fresh and other industry associations
 Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required (unless otherwise noted):
 Requires experience in category management, marketing or marketing analysis with CPG or produce company –
preferably at least 5 years
 Extensive knowledge and experience in analyzing sales and marketing data and presenting in an effective
manner
 Experience working directly for or with supermarkets
 Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field, Master’s preferred
 Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
 Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
 Ability to work well under pressure
 Individual must be a self-starter and able to self-direct
 Excellent organizational skills and detail-orientation including basic financial accounting

 Travel required thirty (30) percent or more, including international travel
