Most people mistakenly identify marketing with selling and promotion. Pete Drucker, one of the leading management gurus, put it this way: “The aim of marketing is to make selling superfluous. The aim is to know and understand the customer so well that the product or service fits them and sells itself.” The marketing activities involved in bringing products to market include: marketing research product development Pricing Marketing logistics marketing channel management wholesaling and retailing promotion, including advertising, sales promotion, and personal selling. Two other major areas of marketing are industrial marketing, which focuses on developing and selling products to companies and international marketing which focuses on marketing in other countries. Director of Marketing and Communications - The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for designing event and activity fliers, banners, and other promotional items, making sure to give copies to the treasurer in a timely manner so that copies of promotional materials can be allocated for. Director of Fundraising - The Director of Fundraising is responsible for organizing and implementing at least one fundraiser per semester, preferably more, to help maintain a balance in the AMA's flex account Director of Community Service - The Director of Community Service is responsible for organizing and implementing at least two community based projects or activities each semester that the AMA can complete as a group. Director of Membership - The Director of Membership is responsible for new member recruitment, new member packages, AMA National applications, and meeting attendance surveys.
