Evaluation of the planned activity and student’s learning This lesson went a lot better than I expected it to be. The students were reasonably well behaved and followed my instructions when they were instructed. The students were engaged and looked interested when going through the PowerPoint. Students asked a lot of questions which helped them understand the differences between the old and the new planes. They enjoyed drawing their pictures and were proud when they finished they forgot their rules and got off their chair to show myself and the teacher. Students got stickers who made great drawings and didn’t put down their own work. Most students responded positively to their own learning and their drawings and some put down their drawings and said it was wrong or bad. I ensured them that they weren’t. 2. Evaluation and reflection on my own teaching and learning I felt a lot more confident than I did in my first prac where I was always nervous and felt like I didn’t know what I was doing. I think History was a good first lesson for me as it was something easy to make a lesson on. I felt that I was more in control of the class and I wasn’t afraid to manage behaviour and ‘tell students off’ when they were off task or interrupting the class or not following instructions. I managed time better than my last prac as I planned my lesson better to fit the time frame. At first I was afraid when the students were asking ME questions about the planes but the questions they asked me I could answer with confidence. I got to know the student’s ability’s a lot better because I was the one in control. I allowed time for students to ask questions and make comments as we went through the PowerPoint. This game the student’s time to discuss the topic further. Some of the questions were really good questions and I’m glad I was able to answer them with confidence. As the class went on to do their worksheets that’s when I felt a little lost because I wasn’t sure what to do but then I realised what I needed to do and I was fine. I rang a handbell to get the students attention which worked really well. They responded quite quickly and then followed my instructions to pack up. 3. Aspects for discussion My voice is a really quite voice and I am worried my voice isn’t going to be loud enough or I will try too hard and break my voice. It was a little hard to tell if I was talking too quietly as I had a blocked ear and couldn’t hear to my full hearing. I also feel that my management of behaviour needs some work. I tend to just ignore bad behaviour sometimes. It works sometimes but sometimes you still have to confront them and tell them off for doing the wrong thing.
