Purpose of Presentation
 To
familiarize students’ families with 3rd
grade procedures and expectations.
 To prepare parents and guardians in helping
their children succeed throughout the school
year.

Your Child’s Schedule








The following is a list of teachers and subjects that your
child encounters throughout the week:
Language Arts: 2 consecutive hours daily
Mathematics: 1 hour daily
Science: 1 hour Mon., Tues., and Fri.
Social Studies: Thurs and Fri.= 1 hour and 30 minutes
Music: (Mr. Gil) 1 hour on Thursday
P.E: (Ms. Hernandez) 2 ½ hours a week (Mon., Wed., Fri.)
Art: (Mrs. Guerrero) Friday. 1 hour
Spanish (Mrs. Rocaberti) 2 ½ hours a week (Mon,Thurs,
and Fri.
All subjects are essential in your child’s education.
Classroom Rules and
Consequences


In order to maintain positive learning environment, the third grade teachers
have established a uniform set of classroom rules that your child needs to
follow.
Classroom Rules:
 1. Follow directions.
 2. Be in your seat ready to work with supplies when class begins.
 3. Raise your hand to speak and wait to be called upon.
 4. Hand in assignments on time everyday.
 5. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.
Consequences:
 Conduct Cuts
 3 conduct cuts in day = detention
 Call parents
 Go to office in extreme cases
 Conduct is graded daily
School Supplies









(Uniforms are Mandatory)
A three-ring binder with dividers and paper
3 duotang folders (red, blue, and green)
2 composition notebooks of 100 pages each
Pencils, pencil sharpener, pens (blue or black), highlighter,
and erasers
Crayons or colored pencils, glue and scissors
12” Ruler
Umbrella or Poncho 
Flash Drive/ Memory Stick
$ 8.00 for Scholastic News and Science Spin Subscription
Attendance and Dismissal
Class begins at 8:35 am. Any student arriving past 8:35am
is considered late and will receive an unexcused tardy.
 Parent pick up is at 3:05 pm (except on Wed. at 1:50 pm)
in the front of the school.
 If your child must be absent, he/she needs a note from
home explaining the absence.
 If your child is absent for three consecutive days or longer,
he/she must bring a doctor’s note.
 5 or more unexcused absences will result in administrative
intervention. (District Rule)
100% class attendance will be rewarded!! Yahoo!

Homework





Students receive homework everyday.
Homework is explained before it is given and it is a review
of what was done in class.
Children who complete their HW excel in their academic
goals.
Encourage HW done on the computer.
Please be aware that 2 incomplete homework
assignments will result in a detention.
 Board
rule is 45 min. each day
Homework is important and it is checked everyday
for your child’s benefit.

The A.R. program evaluates students’ understanding of
books they read independently.
 Students must accumulate 20 points in A.R. this grading
period (85% avergage test score). Packet link
 Students will receive 4 grades in reading for points and
average test scores (reading is monitored with reports)
 A.R. books can be checked online, the AR link is on the

 Encourage your child to read everyday for 30 minutes.
 The student with the most points will be rewarded 
Parent Participation really makes a difference!

AR is 20% of the Reading Grade
A = 20.0 points or more
B = 18.0 to 19.9
C = 15.0 to 17.9
D = 12.0 to 14.9
F = Less than 12.00 points

Students are encouraged to do their homework using computers.
