Innovations and Best Practices 7.1 Innovations introduced during this academic year which have created a positive impact on the functioning of the institution. Give details. We started “Let’s Read in Vacation” Programme under which students have to read during vacation and we declared to gift a book “Moticharo” written by I.K. Vijalivala to each students who reads five books. -The positive impact of this programme was that the students were motivated to read something other than the prescribed texts. - Under this programme 18 students read during the vacation and out of that five got the gifts for reading five books.. Prof. Renuka Parekh of Home Science Department made a game on Nutrition named “ Snakes and Ladders”. On one day we made the students play this game. The positive impact of this was that the students were made aware about importance of Nutrition and they vowed to eat healthy . 7.2 Provide the Action Taken Report (ATR) based on the plan of action decided upon at the beginning of the year We organised an Induction Ceremony for first year students. We invited two guests for lectures . The college organises a host of creative, cultural, intellectual, literary and social activities under the Govt initiated drive called “ Saptadhara “ Seven committees have been formed to carry out all these activities during the year and at the end of year, the report is sent to the government. A complete Academic and Administrative Audit ” AAA” was done by the committee of Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat-KCG whose Peer Team visited the college under Gujarat Government Guidance. The college received “A” Grade and the institution was rated second rank in South Gujarat and First Rank in Arts Faculty. In this year a student of B.A. Seme.II of Political Science Dept. Patel Dharmistha S. got a prize from the Univ. for scoring highest marks . Patel Priyanka R. of Home Science Dept received 2 medals from the Univ. for scoring highest marks. M.A. student of Sanskrit department Patel Yogita T. received two medals and two prizes from the Univ. for scoring highest marks. “Home Science Cafeteria” : Students of Home Science run a cafeteria and sell home made snacks under ‘Earn while You Learn” scheme. Objective: To facilitate the students to implement teaching in earning and being self dependent. To give them training in entrepreneurship. Resources; Students prepare snacks and soups, squash, synthetic syrup, herbal tea etc. from home and a table and chair provided to them in the department. “Earn while you Learn” Our Home Science students make items like Aprons, Key chains, pots paintings, envelopes, cards, flower arrangements etc. and sell them and make pocket money. An adhoc lecturer in Physical Education Mr. S.N.Tandel is appointed. College results are always higher in percentage than the University results. A complaint boxes are kept in the library and in the foyer of the college and the complaints are redressed by the committee. The institution has Prevention of Sexual Harassment Cell. We are proud to state that though the college is co education, we never have the problem of sexual harassment. Seven committees of students Union are formed for carrying out various activities. At the end of the year Annual Day is celebrated along with a prize distribution ceremony where all the winners and students who get 1st class are felicitated at the hands of the chief Guest.
