They are expected to spend at least an hour and a half on each homework task set and on average, students will be set two homeworks per night. Your son/daughter may be asked to spend time on revision in addition to the homework tasks and as they approach their GCSEs, they will be asked to complete past papers and exam questions which can often require more time. Teachers will always seek to give students the appropriate amount of time in order to complete work to the highest quality. Homework set in one week may be due to be handed in the following week, in order to give GCSE students time at the weekend to complete it in sufficient detail. If your son/daughter is struggling to keep up with homework or you think that they are not receiving enough, please contact Mrs Connolly, the Deputy Headteacher or the relevant Head of Department. You should expect to see your son/daughter receiving 2 homeworks per week in all subjects in Year 10. Pupils and parents can check the homework set by teachers on our online homework calendar: https://btg.showmyhomework.co.uk. Alternatively, if you log on to the school website (www.btg.ac) and click on the showmyhomework logo, this will also take you to the calendar. To check the homework set, please select the year group, subject and class. The online calendar will also give you access to documents that may have been issued in class or weblinks. Please note: Holidays: It is absolutely imperative that Year 10 students do not go on holiday during term time.Taking holidays during these times means that students miss important learning in lessons and can result in lower GCSE grades. Under no circumstances should any Year 10 students go on holiday during term time.
