MIRA MESA HIGH SCHOOL BUBBLE GUM LAB 1. OBSERVATIONS: Record anything that you notice that you might consider helpful during this experiment QUANTATIVE QUALITATIVE 2. QUESTIONS: After making your observations, what questions do you want to know the answers to? (3-5 questions) 3. MATERIALS: What materials will be needed to complete this EXPERIMENT? (You may want to complete this section after you have finished developing your PROTOCOL(S)) 4. HYPOTHESIS: This is the issue that you are trying to create an answer for… (HYPOTHESIS is stated as an IF… THEN… BECAUSE… statement) IF: THEN: BECAUSE: 5. PROCEDURE: For the purposes of this EXPERIMENT you will be creating three (3) PROTOCOLS PROTOCOL 1. HOW TO BLOW A BUBBLE WITH BUBBLE GUM 2. HOW TO MEASURE A BUBBLE 3. HOW TO PERFORM THE ENTIRE EXPERIMENT 6. DATA: You will need to build a DATA TABLE for each set of DATA that you generate LINE GRAPH FOR EACH GROUP MEMBERS ATTEMPTS TO BLOW BUBBLES (3 DIFFERENT LINES FOR EACH TYPE OF GUM) BAR GRAPH SHOWING AVERAGE BUBBLE SIZE FOR EACH GROUP MEMBER AND EACH TYPE OF BUBBLE GUM DATA TABLE FOR OBSERVATIONS (1 TABLE FOR BOTH QUANTATATIVE & QUALITATIVE) IF YOU GENERATE ANY OTHER DATA REMEMBER TO INCLUDE THAT IN THIS SECTION IN THE FORM OF A DATA TABLE 7. RESULTS: This section is where you INTERPRET/ANALYZE what the DATA means (IF YOU DON’T HAVE DATA THEN YOU CANNOT GENERATE A RESULT!!!). In other words, you must refer directly to the DATA that you generated when stating a RESULT EX: Gum X creates the largest bubbles as is seen in DATA TABLE 1.2 (BAR GRAPH)… 8. CONCLUSION: This section is also VERY IMPORTANT! This is the SUMMATION of your EXPERIMENT. This is where you will restate your HYPOTHESIS and comment whether or not your HYPOTHESIS was correct or not. Comment on what went well and also what was challenging Offer advice for what to do differently if performing this EXPERIMENT in the future This is the only portion of the LAB REPORT where including your OPINION is appropriate
