The setting for this particular opening of this song was on a storming night and he could be at the
bus stop waiting, or hailing for a cab. She offered him a ride… now come on, would a woman
offer a total stranger a ride these days? I know for a fact if she did not know him, there would be
no reason for a woman to pick up a total stranger back in the 80s to now.
Audry: Man was standing by the road, could have been a hitchhiker since he had no
umbrella or coat. Maybe, his car broke down, etc. She pulled up next to him and asked if he
needed a ride. He said yes and they drove off.

Audry: Everything happens for a reason and she knows she was meant to pick him up. She Is
attracted to him and asks him to stay the night with her.

The song is not stating clearly on these versus for there is a lot of speculation on her actions and
intents, vaguely on her thoughts. But assumption dictates that she had been to this hotel before,
from previous engagement, because she recognizes this hotel. It could be from driving by there
before, or is not her first time with a stranger there before, or had been there for different
occasions unstated. They had consensual sex at the motel room. She had described how
wonderful the sex was, for he did everything right to please her and more. Did they use
protection? This issue was not mentioned in this song. But when morning came, she left a note
behind for him to read when he woke up. My thought on this is that all she wanted from him was
a one night stand. Is it morally decent? My opinion is no.

opinion is that if she wanted a baby really bad, why not adopt or have artificial insemination?
