Native American Shelter Project
We have been studying Native Americans and how they survive using natural resources. You are going
to create a Native American Shelter!! Be creative with the supplies you use for your shelter, many of the
things you will need are natural resources. (Ex. sticks, grass, rocks) This project is due Wednesday,
September 21. This project is worth 100 points; this is the same as a test. You must present your
shelter to the class, please be ready to TEACH us about the region and people that lived in that area. DO
NOT spend more than $5.00 on this project!!!!! You may use the internet, or another outside resource
to find pictures of your shelter, if you need help with this I will be more than happy to help you.
The following are shelters you may choose from:
Palm-Leaf chickee built on a platform
Birch-bark wigwam
Underground winter house
Adobe pueblo apartments
Buffalo-skin teepee
Cone-shaped, redwood house
Wood house with cedar totem poles
