Introduction Speech.
3. Students will prepare for their first speech.

On a separate piece of lined paper, brainstorm interview questions that you
would like to ask a classmate whom you don’t know very well.

1. Understand how public speaking will make a difference in their
lives.
2. Compare public speaking and everyday conversation.
Divide a piece of lined paper into two columns. Label one column
“Characteristics of an Effective Public Speaker.” Label the other column
“Characteristics of an Ineffective Public Speaker”. In the columns, list and
briefly explain what you believe to be the five most important characteristics
of effective and ineffective speakers. Be prepared to discuss your ideas in
class.
