B. Floating Decanter Size
1. Floating Decanter shall be capable of a maximum flow of _______ GPM /
LPM.
a. 4” (102mm) diameter submerged orifice flow range from 60 to 244 GPM
(16 to 64 LPM).
b. 6” (152mm) diameter submerged orifice flow range from 144 to 524
GPM (38 to 138 LPM).
C. Structural
1. Maximum vertical deflection under full buoyant or gravity load shall be equal
to or less than l /360, where l is defined as the unsupported product
length in inches or equivalent.
2. The product shall be designed to accommodate thermally induced
expansion and contraction over a temperature range of - 10øF to 100øF
(-23øC to 38øC), without exceeding the deflection or strain limitations.
3. Adjustment of the submerged orifice shall be made using easily accessible
threaded stainless steel adjusting rod with locking nut. The adjustment
rod shall be supported by the FRP guide frame, which the submerged
orifice/anti-vortex baffle to be easily adjusted. The orifice overflow
elevation shall be infinitely adjustable over the projected range of flow.
D. Surface Conditions
1. All Floating Decanters shall be flat and level across the span.
2. Warpage throughout the entire Floating Decanter shall not produce a crown
of more than 1/16” (1.6mm) in any direction.
2.04 CONSTRUCTION
A. Floating Decanters Body
1. The Floating Decanter body shall be molded in one piece of reinforced
thermoset plastic construction for superior structural stability.
2. The resin and gelcoat shall be UV inhibited
3. The exterior surfaces shall be finished with a premium grade gelcoat for
superior protection against weathering and discoloration.
4. The surface shall be resin rich to a depth of .010 inches to .020 inches (.25 .51mm) and reinforced with C-glass and/or polymeric fiber surfacing
material.
5. The surface shall be free of exposed reinforcing fibers.
6. The composition of these layers shall be approximately 95% (by weight)
resin. The remaining laminate shall be made up of copolymer composite

and reinforcing fibers in a form, orientation and position to meet the
mechanical requirements.
7. When necessary to cut the laminate structures, drill holes, machine slots,
and so forth, all cut edges shall be sanded smooth and sealed with resin
solution, paraffinated to prevent air inhibition to ensure the complete
sealing of edges to prevent water from penetrating or wicking into the
laminate.
8. The exterior surface finish shall be smooth to allow easy access for cleaning
and maintenance. Exposed metal exterior ribs will not be acceptable.
9. Decanter shall have a built in baffle to eliminate surface solids.
10. Decanter shall have no electrical or pneumatic components and no
mechanical components in contact with fluid.
11. ________ feet / meters of 4” / 6” (102mm / 152mm) flexible corrugated hose
with stainless steel clamps shall be supplied for each floating
weir/decanter.
12. Metal reinforcing members, where required, shall be free of rust, oil, and any
foreign matter. They shall be completely encapsulated with a minimum
of 1/8-in. (3-mm) thick laminate to ensure against pinhole bleeding and
subsequent rust streaking. Additional protection of the metal
reinforcement (galvanizing or the application of rust inhibitive primer)
does not preclude the need to completely encapsulate the reinforcing
member.
13. Anchoring
a. A. Two mooring stabilizers consisting of a stainless steel pipe and a
stainless steel flange to be mounted to basin wall or floor.
b. Horizontal movement shall be restricted by tethering cables.
