EOC TCG 6 Glossary of Terms TestHear • Platform used to deliver accommodated forms (e.g., large print, zoom, color contrast, screen reader, assistive devices) for Florida’s FCAT/FCAT 2.0/EOC computer-based statewide assessments. • Software application installed on each computer that will be used to test students who require computer-based accommodated forms. • TestHear will operate on Windows PC workstations and on Macintosh workstations that have Mac OS 10.5 or later installed and are running Windows (e.g., via Boot Camp). EOC TCG 7 What’s New for 2012-2013 TestHear Software Update • A new version of TestHear was released prior to the Fall 2012 Retake administration. • Schools that did not administer TestHear accommodated forms of the Fall 2012 Retakes will need to download and install the newest version of TestHear prior to administering an accommodated form of any EOC assessment. • The newest version of TestHear is available at www.FLAssessments.com/downloads. EOC TCG and EOC TAM, page 8. 8 Glossary of Terms ePAT • Electronic Practice Assessment Tool • Provides students an opportunity to practice using the computer-based platform prior to testing. • Available for download at www.FLAssessments.com/ePATs. • Download ePAT launcher separately from practice test content. • Accommodated ePATs are also available. Launcher is bundled with the practice test content for accommodated forms. • Scripts and instructions for downloading ePATs are under the Resources tab. EOC TAM, page 22. 9 What’s New for 2012-2013 TestHear ePats Update • New version of TestHear ePats (FCAT 2.0 and EOC) have been recently released. • Schools will need to download and install these new ePats prior to the Winter 2012 EOC Assessment. – Note: The installation of the new ePats will uninstall any old software automatically. • All old software, even for non-EOC subjects, must be removed from the computers by installing the new ePats. • The ePats are available at www.FLAssessments.com/ePats. 10 Training Packet, pages 2-3. EOC Test Administration Schedule EOC tests must be administered in the following order: Subject Testing Window* Biology 1 November 28 - December 4 Algebra 1 December 5-11 Geometry December 12-19** * Testing must begin on day 1 of each testing window. All paperbased accommodations must be completed on day 1 of the testing window, if applicable . **No testing on December 13; Secondary Early Release day. 11 EOC Test Administration Schedule Testing Duration • Each Algebra 1, Biology 1, and Geometry EOC Assessment will be administered in one 160-minute session with a scheduled 10minute break after 80 minutes. – Students are not allowed to talk during the break. – Individual restroom breaks are permitted as needed. • Any student who has not completed the test by the end of the allotted time may continue working; however, testing must be completed within one school day. • Students may be dismissed from the testing room after the 10minute break as they complete testing. – However, no special incentives should be given to students to encourage them to finish early. EOC TAM, page 13-14. 29 Electronic Devices Policy Prohibited Activities • Possession of any electronic device that reproduces, transmits, calculates, or records IS cause for invalidation. − “Possession” is defined as “within arm’s reach,” even if the electronic device is not visible. − Students should not have cell phones in their pockets, clipped to their belts, at their desks, or anywhere they can be easily accessed during a break or testing. • Test administrators and proctors should also turn-off their electronic devices during testing. If I do not follow these rules, my test score may be invalidated.” • Prior to testing, students must acknowledge the testing rules that the test administrator reads to them by checking a box (in TestNav) or clicking a circle (in TestHear) next to the statement. Students taking a paper-based test will sign below the acknowledgment. EOC TAM, page 29. 34 Test Administrator Before, During, and After Testing EOC TAM, page 315. 35 Test Administrator Before Testing Communicate Testing Policies Communicate Testing Policies to Parents/Guardians and Students • Electronic Devices Policy—If students are found with ANY electronic devices, including, but not limited to, cell phones and smartphones, during testing or during breaks, their tests will be invalidated. • Leaving Campus—If students leave campus before completing the test (for lunch, an appointment, or illness, etc.), they WILL NOT be allowed to complete the test. • Testing Rules Acknowledgment—Prior to testing, students will be asked to affirm a Testing Rules Acknowledgment that reads: “I understand the testing rules that were just read to me. If I do not follow these rules, my test score may be invalidated.” EOC TAM, page 27. 36 Test Administrator Before Testing Security Agreement Forms • Sign and return the Florida EOC Test Administration and Security Agreement, which indicates that the test administrator: Has received training Has read the Test Security Statute and State Board Rule Has read all applicable portions of the Test Administration Manual Understands and agrees to adhere to all test security and administration policies and procedures • Sign and return a Test Administrator Prohibited Activities Form EOC TAM, pages 305 & 307. 37 Test Administrator Before Testing Establish an Appropriate Setting • Tests should be administered in a room that has comfortable seating, good lighting, adequate ventilation, and sufficient workspace for students to use their test materials. • Students must not be able to easily view other students’ computer screens, work folders, or test and answer books. – Install visual barriers • Post the sign that reads TESTING—Please Do Not Disturb on all entrances to the testing room and display starting and stopping times for students as soon as testing begins. • Remove or cover all visual aids in the room. – Students may not have access to any unauthorized aids. EOC TAM, page 86. 38 Test Administrator Before Testing Establish an Appropriate Setting • Display the student comment form URL (www.FLAssessments.com/EOCStudentCommentForm) on the day of testing, or create shortcuts on student workstations to ensure each student is able to complete the form after testing. • When you arrive on the day of testing, open each student workstation in the testing room to the student login screen, but do not log in for students. • Ensure that you have a way to contact the technology coordinator or the school assessment coordinator without leaving the room unattended. The Login ID and the test code are required to log in to TestNav. A unique four-digit number created by school assessment coordinators used to identify groups of students tested together. Test Administrator Before Testing Materials Needed for Testing Computer-Based Testing Work Folders • The Florida Computer-Based Testing Work Folder is a blank piece of 11x17 yellow paper folded in half with grid paper on the back cover. • For the CBT EOC assessments, students are provided with work folders to work the problems. • Work folders must be distributed to students at the beginning of each test session. • Ensure that students have enough desk space to use their folders. • Once students complete the test, the test administrator must collect all work folders. • The school assessment coordinator should package the folders in the District Assessment Coordinator ONLY box. • Used work folders are secure materials. 47 EOC TAM, page 10. Test Administrator Before Testing Materials Needed for Testing Four-Function Calculators – TestNav • The computer-based TestNav Algebra 1 and Biology 1 EOC assessments have a built-in four-function calculator. • Students may use the built-in calculator, or they may use a handheld four-function calculator. • Test administrators should provide handheld calculators at the beginning of a test session to all students who request one. • Schools should have an adequate supply of approved fourfunction calculators. No other calculators may be used. EOC TAM, page 10. 48 Test Administrator Before Testing Materials Needed for Testing Four-Function Calculators – TestHear • Test Hear does NOT have a built-in four-function calculator. • Students who will test using TestHear accommodated forms of the Algebra 1 and Biology 1 EOC Assessments MUST be provided handheld four-function calculators. • Students with visual impairments may use the approved large key/large display calculators or approved talking calculators supplied by the FDOE. – Such calculators must be basic four-function models and must not have functions that are unavailable on approved calculators. EOC TAM, page 10. 49 Test Administrator Before Testing Materials Needed for Testing Scientific Calculators – TestNav • The TestNav Geometry EOC Assessment has a built-in scientific calculator. • Students may use a handheld scientific calculators, if the school has chose to provide them. – Handheld scientific calculators must be approved models, as shown on page 11 of the 2012-2013 EOC Manual. • Handheld scientific calculators will not be provided by the FDOE for students taking the Geometry EOC Assessment using TestNav. EOC TAM, page 10-11. 50 Test Administrator Before Testing Materials Needed for Testing Scientific Calculators – TestHear • The TestHear Geometry EOC Assessment does not include an online scientific calculator. • Handheld scientific calculators will be provided by FDOE for students taking the Geometry EOC Assessment using TestHear accommodated CBT forms. • Students with visual impairments may use large key/large display scientific calculators that are comparable in function to the approved scientific calculators (on page 11 of the 2012-2013 EOC Manual). – The approved talking scientific calculator is the Orion TI-36X or one that is comparable in function to the Orion TI-36X. • No other calculators may be used. EOC TAM, page 11. 51 Test Administrator Before Testing Materials Needed for Testing Reference Sheets and Periodic Tables • Reference sheets and periodic tables are provided in an online format only for CBT testers. • Any hardcopy reference sheets or periodic tables must be photocopies of the reference sheet and periodic table in Appendix E of this manual. • If your school will provide reference sheets or periodic tables to students, make sure to check each copy before distributing to students and follow the instructions in the administration scripts. • Reference sheets and periodic tables for students with paper-based accommodations are packaged with test materials. • Once students complete the test session, the test administrator should collect all reference sheets and periodic tables. • The school assessment coordinator should package the reference sheets and periodic tables in the District Assessment Coordinator ONLY box. • Used reference sheets and periodic tables are secure materials. 52 EOC TAM, page 11. Test Administrator Before Testing Materials Needed for Testing Seating Chart • An accurate seating chart must be maintained for each testing room for each test session. Seating charts must capture the following information: − − − − − − − − − − The room name/number Student names and their location in the room during testing The front and back of the room Direction students are facing Date Session starting time Test administrator name Names of proctors (if applicable) Test group code Session name in PearsonAccess (CBT) • If students using extra time are moved to a new location or the seating configuration changes during testing, a new seating chart must be 53 created. EOC TAM, page 84 and Training Packet page 13. 61 School Assessment Coordinator Before Testing School-wide Infrastructure Trial Infrastructure Trial: November 13-26 • Simulates a computer-based test using mock test items to test the vendor’s, District’s, and schools’ hardware and network capacity prior to the operational administration. • Set up the Trial to use all computers scheduled to be used concurrently during the Winter 2012 EOC administration. • Manage the test sessions in the PearsonAccess Training Center – Use the tools provided by Pearson to determine network user capacity and bandwidth requirements – Takes approximately thirty minutes for users to log in, complete the exercise and submit the test • Schools must complete a brief survey by November 26th to certify that the trial was conducted to identify any problems that need to be addressed prior test administration. 62 EOC TAM, page 7 and Infrastructure Readiness Guide available at www.FLAssessments.com/InfrastructureReadinessGuide School Assessment Coordinator Before Testing School User Accounts Creating and/or Updating School User Accounts • School user accounts are necessary to complete the CBT test activities. • Create or reset your password for each Pearson site (operational and training center). • Create school user accounts for test administrators in Pearson’s operational site (optional). • Two different school user accounts may be set up: − Individual accounts for each test administrator Test administrator will set up unique password. − Generic accounts linked to the school assessment coordinator The password will be the same for all test administrators. These accounts can be randomly assigned. • Test administrators may monitor and resume students with a school user account. See back of Training Packet. 63 School Coordinator Before Testing Test Administrators • Train all test administrators and proctors, including nonschool-based instructors (e.g., itinerant teachers) and several employees to act as possible alternates. • Train test administrators in the use of braille materials, as applicable. • Ensure that test administrators are aware of and have made provisions for the exact accommodations needed for ESE and/or ELL students. • Review the Test Administrators’ Responsibilities Maintaining Test Security Before, During, and After the FCAT/FCAT 2.0 (Attachment D) in your training packet. • Test Administrators must be certified educators. EOC TAM, page 84. 64 School Assessment Coordinator Before Testing Test Administrators Provide instructions to handle these circumstances: • A student has not participated in a practice test session. • A student has trouble logging in the first time. • A student cannot see the shading on the Test Group Code screen. • A test administrator does not have a Student Authorization Ticket for a student. • A Student Name or Florida ID is not correct (e.g., misspelled) on the Student Authorization Ticket. • A test administrator is concerned that a student is unable (e.g., too ill) to finish the test. • A student Exits the test to finish later and logs out of the test session. • A student is in the wrong test session. However, students who previously participated in an ePAT for the subject test they are scheduled to take are NOT required to participate in an ePAT session. • Students who require accommodated CBT forms (e.g., large print, color contrast, zoom, screen reader, assistive devices) must complete a practice test using the TestHear ePAT with the specific accommodated form or form combination they will use during testing. • To access instructions for downloading and installing the ePAT Launcher, practice test content including accommodated CBT forms, and scripts for administering the ePATs, go to www.FLAssessments.com/ePATs. EOC TAM, page 92. 69 School Assessment Coordinator Before Testing Preparing Computers Technology Coordinator should: • • • • • • • Review the Technology Coordinator checklist available in Appendix E in the manual. Ensure all workstations meet the minimum requirements posted at www.FLAssessments.com/MinimumSpecs. Confirm TestNav 6.9 software has been installed on all computers to be used for testing. Install new version of TestHear on all computers to be used for testing students requiring accommodated CBT forms. Confirm that the computers used for test administration have the appropriate required version of a standard Internet browser based on the operating system and that the pop-up blocker is disabled (see Appendix C). Disable instant messaging, email notification, screen savers, power savers, and remote desktop. Delay anti-virus, auto-scan and/or auto-update, system restore utilities, Windows Security Firewall, web content filtering, or other software that may impact CPU speed or scan/block information transferred between the 70 workstation and the servers. School Assessment Coordinator Before Testing Preparing Computers Technology Coordinator should: • Ensure student workstations and the user profiles and logins being used for testing allow full permissions (read-/write-/modify-) to the TestNav/Temp, TestNav/Logs, and gh\TestHearPearson\Data directories. • Ensure that the primary and secondary save locations are set for student response files and that students have read-/writeaccess to these locations. • Ensure students will see all of the content in the test, students are asked to confirm that they can see the 15% shading on the Test Group Code screen when they first log into the test. • Ensure TestNav and TestHear software shortcuts are available on student workstations. School Coordinator During Testing Monitor Test Sessions • Ensure the test sessions have been started in PearsonAccess. • Provide test administrators with additional materials, as necessary. • Monitor each testing room to ensure that test administration and test security policies and procedures are followed, seating charts and Security Logs are being properly completed, and required administration information is being collected. • Be available during testing to answer questions from test administrators and to resolve any technical issues. • Technical issues that are not immediately resolved must be reported to Student Assessment and/or Region ITS staff for support and guidance. • In PearsonAccess, monitor session status and resume students’ tests, if necessary. • Arrange for and supervise make-up administrations. 72 EOC TAM, page 113.
