COURSE DESCRIPTION
● IB Spanish I (IB Junior Spanish) is designed to best prepare you for IB Spanish II course and/or post-secondary language
studies and use of the Spanish language in today’s modern world. It is equivalent in both content and difficulty to that of a
beginning college course. The objective of this course is to continue to develop a high level of proficiency in the four basic skills
of communication in Spanish: listening, speaking, reading and writing. There is a strong emphasis on culture and customs studied
within a framework of geographical locations - including history, current events, cuisine, literature, art, famous people and places.
● It is assumed that the IB Spanish I student has retained vocabulary from previous Spanish courses and has a clear understanding
of grammatical and syntactical structures. The IB Spanish I student should be self-motivated, self-disciplined and willing to
dedicate the time necessary to develop language proficiency.
