Galileo State of Play

The first two operational satellites were
launched on 21 October 2011

The third and fourth Galileo satellites,
completing the IOV quartet, were
launched on 12 October 2012

On 12 March 2013, the first ever position
fix using only Galileo satellites and
ground segment was achieved.

The In-Orbit Validation phase of Galileo is
about to be concluded.

The full operational capability of the
Galileo system will be reached by 2020

Its Safety of Life service has been

at Alderney airport (Channel Islands),
since December 2011

Around 150 approach procedures
making use of EGNOS for aircraft
landings approved in Europe
The EGNOS Data Access Service
(EDAS) was declared operational
in July 2012
