Missouri University of Science and Technology What is it? Missouri University of Science and Technology, otherwise known as MS&T, is an engineering and technology postsecondary school located in Rolla, Missouri. This public, co-ed institution currently holds a student population of approximately 7,647. Founded in 1870 as The University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (MSM), it was established in response to the acute need for scientific and practical education in Missouri. At the time, the school’s curriculum weighed very heavily on the state’s immediate technological needs in the state mining industry. As time went on, however, courses included a wide range of engineering fields, chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, physics, and geology. As the United States emerged from WWII, the School of Mines and Metallurgy began to become a leader of education in the quickly advancing technological world. In 1964, the name changed to University of Missouri-Rolla, or UMR, a symbol of more expansion into the fields of life science, computer science, nuclear engineering, liberal arts, and more. In 2008, the name changed again to the Missouri University of Science and Technology. 1 Admission Requirements (High School) English: 4 units, one of which may be speech or debate; two units emphasizing composition or writing skills. NCAA Division II Varsity Sports 3 Meal Plans Plan 1: $1750 Points With this plan, half of the student's points are distributed each semester ($875/semester). The balance remaining in the fall will roll over into the spring semester as long as they remain on a plan. Points are just like real money except they can only be used for food on campus. Your student ID acts like a check card when eating at dining facilities. Points are accepted at all campus dining facilities. Plan 3-7 Meal Meals Per Points Per Plan Week Year Plan 2: 300 Swipes + $215 Points With this plan, half of the student's swipes and declining balance dollars are distributed each semester (150 swipes and $107.5 per semester). The balance remaining in the fall will roll over into the spring semester as long as they are still on their plan. Swipes are similar to meals per week but they are rolled over from week to week instead of lost like the meals per week plans. This plan averages out to be just over 9 meals per week if you compare it to the other plans. This plan is great if you are planning on paying for friends of family to eat because you can use multiple swipes per dining period which you can't do with meals.
