Seventh Grade Essential Science Terms Vocabulary Booklet
What are the essential science terms?
The 7th Grade essential science terms are the vocabulary words that will be on the Final Exam. There are 150 of
these words. They are divided up by each unit we cover.
Objective: To create a booklet of all of the essential science terms and use it to study for the Final Exam.
Directions:
1. Make your booklet.
a. You will receive this direction sheet, along with 1 sheet of booklet paper.
b. Put these papers into your 3-prong folder, using the prongs to hold them in place.
c. Write your name, teacher, and period on the front of your folder.
d. PUT IT IN A SAFE PLACE IN YOUR SCIENCE BINDER! DO NOT LOSE IT!!! THERE
WILL BE A BOOKLET TEST AT THE END OF THE YEAR!!!
2. Write the title of the unit at the top of the page where it says “title.”
3. In each box, you should:
a. Write the word
b. Write its definition—some you can find in your book, others you will need to use a dictionary,
encyclopedia, or look the word up online. Be sure to use a definition that you understand;
don’t just copy from a website with big words. See my website for suggestions on websites to
use: www.brothscience.weebly.com.
c. Draw and color a picture
d. Use the word in a sentence – your sentence should explain how your picture is related to the
word. Do NOT just restate the definition and do NOT just copy the first sentence that pops up in
Google!
4. Only use 1 word for each box. Do this for all of the words listed on the back of this page.
Due Dates:
We will complete this project one unit at a time. You may work ahead, but the due dates are as follows:
Science Processes and Technological Design: Friday, September 11, 2015
Motion and Forces: Friday, October 2, 2015
Atmosphere: Friday, November 13, 2015
Cells: Friday, January 29, 2016
Genetics: Friday, March 18, 2016
Human Body: Friday, April 29, 2016
Grading: Each Unit will be graded separately.
***Each word will be worth 3 points: 1 point for the definition, 1 point for the picture, and 1 point for the
sentence.
***You may type your booklet or write it by hand.
***Your grade will be calculated by: points earned/points possible x 100. The # of points possible for each unit:
Science Processes: ______/45
Motion/Forces: _______/75
Atmosphere: _______/75
Cells: _______/60
Genetics: _______/60
Human Body: _______/75
