Christmas is the
most important,
popular and colorful
holiday celebrated by
Christians all over the
world;
The word
Christmas comes from
"Christ's Mass", the
Mass was said in the
Roman Catholic
church to honour the
birth of Jesus Christ.
History
Although Christmas is
celebrated on December 25th, the
actual date of Christ's birth is not
known.
Shepherds followed a
star to the new-born
baby to worship him.
Holy night
Silent night, Holy night, all is calm,
All is bight.
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child,
Holy Infant, so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, Holy night, Shepherds quake
At the sight.
Glory streams from Heaven afar.
Heavenly hosts sing Hallelujah
Christ the Savoir is born
Christ the Savoir is born.
Silent night, Holy night, Son of God,
Love’s pure light.
Radian beams from Thy holy face.
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.
An oven-roasted turkey
Christmas pudding was
made many years ago.
Now it is the highlight
of Christmas dinner.
Children often put holly
on the pudding.
On Christmas Eve there
is a bunch of mistletoe in
every house. Under
the bunch boys kiss girls.
It is a piece of wood which
people burn in the fireplace on Christmas Eve.
Boxing Day comes after the Christmas Day.
It is on the 26th of December.
This day people do not go to work.
They visit friends or go to the theatre.
Everybody gives and receives Christmas
cards and Christmas boxes.
JINGLE BELLS
Dashing through the snow, in a one-horse open
sleigh
Over the fields we go, laughing all the way;
Bells on bob-tail ring, making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song
tonight
(Chorus)
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh
A day or two ago, I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright, was seated by my
side;
The horse was lean and lank, misfortune seemed
his lot;
He got into a drifted bank and there we got upsot
CHRISTMAS TONGUE TWISTERS
• Santa's sleigh slides on
slick snow.
• Bobby brings bright bells.
• Seven Santas sang silly
songs.
• Chilly chipper children
cheerfully chant.
• Tiny Timmy trims the tall
tree with tinsel.
Abba - Happy New Year
No more champagne
And the fireworks are through
Here we are, me and you
Feeling lost and feeling blue
It's the end of the party
And the morning seems so grey
So unlike yesterday
Now's the time for us to say...
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don't we might as well lay down and die
You and I
Sometimes I see
How the brave new world arrives
And I see how it thrives
In the ashes of our lives
Oh yes, man is a fool
And he thinks he'll be okay
Dragging on, feet of clay
Never knowing he's astray
Keeps on going anyway...
Seems to me now
That the dreams we had before
Are all dead, nothing more
Than confetti on the floor
It's the end of a decade
In another ten years time
Who can say what we'll find
What lies waiting down the line
In the end of eighty - nine...
