Theatrical Elements (n): the costumes,
props, and other things dramatists and
directors use to tell a story on stage
Sentence: The director used the theatrical
element of a woman dressed in a kimono to
illustrate the setting of the play.
Analyzing film is similar to analyzing a
story (pg. 80) 1 min.





Film and art are essentially “visual texts”
As with a written text, you can analyze, justify,
and critique the director or artist’s choices
I’m going to show you two film clips
As you watch them respond to each by noting
the costumes, props, sets, and acting choices
(acting can include movement, gestures, voices,
etc)
Take notes in the graphic organizer on page 80
Short paragraph on notecard-10 mins.
