Instead of simple representation, the students are encouraged to find their “artistic voice.” A variety of projects have been designed to allow the students to be more expressive, not only in terms of technique, but content as well. Since the course is tailored more toward the individual, the time frames of each project are subject to change. In addition to their studio work, the students are required to participate in a survey of 19 th and 20th Century art history. Students will compile this information as well as an online portfolio into their artist website. STUDENTS MUST HAVE A JUMP DRIVE OR MEMORY CARD. MINIMUM OF 2G SPACE. The projects investigate the principles of design, the elements of art, and a variety of art-making techniques. These projects are reinforced with art history content. The students are evaluated on their execution of the technique, as well as on their understanding of principles introduced over the course of the lesson. 40% Quizzes Assessments of Art History The students are quizzed about art history. Included will be style, artists, philosophies, and time periods of different art movements. 10% Homework Art History Study Guides Students will create study guides about different art movements and schools of thought. These will be in list form. Students will also build a website that includes all of this information. 25% Classroom Participation Behavior, Attitude and Effort Classroom Participation deals with how dedicated they are to their artwork, their interactions with their peers and with the teacher, and if they are prepared for class. 25% Grading Codes used in Veracross to indicate progress with regard to individual assignments: Description Pending Abbreviation Pending Complete Not Turned In NTI Missing Assignment Incomplete M Not Required to Complete NREQ Inc Notes Assignment has not been graded or the deadline has not arrived Completed assignment Student was present but did not turn in the assignment.
