Industry and Urban Growth project: Choose one of the following projects. Due date is _________________ If you have access, please use a computer. Use a non-fancy 12 point font, double spaced. Finished projects must be printed BEFORE the due date. Do not expect to be permitted to go to the lab to print your project the day it is due. You will not be permitted. If you do not have access to a computer after school, please handwrite in your neatest penmanship. Posters should be neat. Embellishments to any project are welcome. The content will be a social studies grade for chapter 18. You must present at least part of your project to the class for a communication grade. I. Using a spreadsheet or diagram, create a family tree with at least fifteen entries outside your immediate family. Make a cover page with your project title, or make sure your name is on the diagram. II. You are the owner of the first car in your town. Create five journal entries (at least one paragraph each) that tell about your experiences the first year of ownership. Answer one of the following questions using at least 150 words. Write an intro paragraph on what is or was (cite your source properly) and then answer using your own ideas. Is this an acceptable trade-off when it comes to following a dream? Why or why not? 3. How would the world be better if cars and planes hadn’t been invented? VI. Cook a food that originally came from your ethnicity. Document it with pictures and bring in small samples for the class—be prepared to share how you made it-secret family recipes need not be revealed. Make sure your name is on any posters. Create a float, power point or brochure exhibiting five symbols of a country from where your family came and what those symbols mean. Make sure your name is on the float or brochure.
