Description:
This assignment is similar to the training log that you will be keeping. However, this workout
program will not only include a two day-a-week workout like your training log. This will be a 6 week
workout program that you will develop based on the principles we have talked about during the
semester (sets-reps and goals) and examples and information you may find on your own. This program
does not have to be a program that you would use. I just have to be able to recognize the goals or where
the improvements are made by the end of the program. The program can be a 3 day-a-week (Monday,
Wednesday, and Friday) or a 4 day-a-week program (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) routine.
Each workout must follow the consistency, correct documentation, and logical flow that each of you
have shown already. By that I mean a workout that looks like this: MONDAY-Squats, Bicep Curls, Inclined
Bench Press, and One-Arm-Rows; will NOT be acceptable. Here is a link that will help you with this
assignment if you choose to use it: http://www.exrx.net/Lists/WorkoutMenu.html
you can browse this site for helpful tips, exercises, and ideas.
Activity Preparation:
-
The students have been learning about weight lifting throughout the semester. The focus of the
class so far has been based on learning the basic principles and concepts relating to weight
-
lifting such as: difference in reps and physical outcomes, different muscle contractions, and type
of muscles.
The students have been performing weight training exercises provided to them by the teacher
to get every student familiar with the weight room.
Each student has been through an orientation of each piece of equipment in the weight room,
along with the correct technique in spotting another student performing certain lifts.
Each student is encouraged to used personal smart phones or tablets to assist in documenting
their exercises to lead to a paperless classroom.
The smart board in the gymnasium will be used to show examples of weight training programs.
The main online resource we will be using is the web site www.exrx.net
Students will be encouraged to use other resources such as other web sites and applications
found on smart phones or tablets.
Activity Procedure:

personal smart phones or tablets as an application. There are many fitness applications to
choose from.
o Use classroom iPad to show students applications that are recommended by the teacher
Students will begin to create their own weight training program that follows the description on
the assignment given to them by the teacher.
Teacher will conduct presidential physical fitness pre- test to document students beginning
fitness levels.

Comments:
This assignments is a great way to get students to perform research on own to design personal weight
lifting programs. The advantage of a student being able to successfully design their own weight lifting
program is that once that student leaves that class, they will have the ability and knowledge to continue
lifelong fitness outside of the classroom because of what was learned in the classroom. Whether that
student takes advantage of that knowledge will be up to them and will lead to their future fitness levels
as they age.
