VIEW>FORMULA BAR - turns on the
formula bar
More Steps- Inserting the

Making a Multiplication table
• Today you are going to make a

• The multiplication table is a good example

What other types of cells are
there?
• Cell phone
• Cell in you body
• Prison cell
Prison Cell Analogy
• Prisoner goes inside cell, data goes inside
cell.
• There are different kinds of prisoners that
go inside cells, there are different kinds of
data that goes into cells, text, numbers,
formulas.
Prison Cell Analogy
• Prison cell is part of a “cell block”,
spreadsheet cell is determined by row and
column.
• Prison cell walls (usually cement blocks)
can be painted and so can the bars
• Spreadsheet cell can be filled with color
(shading) and can have color on the edge
(border)
Formatting Cells
Select Cells you want to format
1) Apple-1
2) FORMAT>CELLS
3) Formatting Palette- Shading and Borders
section

Quick review
• A specific cell can have any combination of
the following

– Format ( how the cell is formatted )
– Formula
Copy and Paste
• To make your life easier, Excel does have
copy and paste.
• You need to know what you are trying to
copy, do you want to copy the value in the
cell or the format of the cell?
• Paste Special
• Formatting Painter
Spreadsheet Assignment

• Use Pattern tool (Auto-fill)
Closure
• Show your neighbor your assignment
• Show them an example of the copy-paste
special
• Show them an example of using the pattern
copy tool
