LESSON PLAN 1 – NAGLAA AHMED ABDELMONEM
Beginners
Room 2
Progress expectation
Students learn days of the week and some verbs for daily activities, e.g. On
Fridays, I always dance salsa at night. The goal is to start with a short
sentence and learn how to make it longer.
Learning the days of the week, verbs expressing daily activities and
adverbs of frequency “Always, never, sometimes”.
Week activities
-Practice days and very common activity verbs (meet, dance, sing,
go…etc)
- Prepositions (On Sunday, in the morning)
- Adverbs of frequency “always, never, sometimes”
Students learn simple sentences, each associated with a day.
Students know days of the week.
White board+ Hand outs
The hand outs are planned to motivate students to write sentences to
practice the daily activities. After the presentation of the vocabulary, the first
hand out is about matching two words to form an activity “dance+salsa” and
then write full sentence “On Friday, I dance salsa”. The other hand out is
about writing a longer sentence adding more details, “On Friday, I dance
salsa at night.”
 The number of students was larger than I expected for a course in
August in Madrid.
 Teacher must work more on the language of the presentation.
 The majority of the students had a good level of English, with the
exception of only one “Elizabeth” and I was happy to be prepared
with back-ups.
 I need to work more on time management because I was excited
with the experience and I did not manage time as I was supposed
to all the time.
 I enjoyed teaching adults in a class, even though it was the first
time for me.
