DIFFERENT SPECIES OF FIGS FRUIT AT DIFFERENT TIMES SO THAT THERE IS ALWAYS A SUPPLY OF FOOD FOR ANIMALS THAT DEPEND ON FRUIT AS A MAJOR PART OF THE DIET Animal life There is estimated over 50 million species of insects alone in the tropical rainforests Because there are so many species of animals… there is always competition for food, sunlight and space some animals have adapted to their environment so well that they are specialized. Such as toucans that eat nuts because their beak has adapted a four square foot mile patch of rainforest contains as many as 1500 species of flower plants, 750 species of trees, 125 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, 100 species of reptiles, 60 species of amphibians, and 150 species of butterfly.
