Third Year Internship Portfolio
As you complete your internship year and are preparing to enter the field as a professional school psychologist, we
would like you to reflect upon your growth and development in the following two areas:
1) Your progress on the goals of your Professional Learning Plan (2-3 pages)
At the beginning of this year, you set two or three personal goals for yourself that were important for your
professional development. Please describe the progress that you have made with respect to each of these goals.
What have you learned and in what ways is this an area that you will continue to work on? As you worked on a
particular goal did other issues arise that were unexpected? Did you become aware of related areas or issues that
you would want to continue to work on as you enter the field?
2) A self-assessment with respect to the NASP Domains (4-5 pages)
Over the course of your internship year, you have completed three case studies. Based upon these case studies and
the feedback that you have received from your supervisors, please rate yourself on each domain at this point in
your development using the form provided by your university supervisor (form to be developed). After reviewing
your ratings, please tell us what you see as the areas of professional practice that are strengths, the areas that you
would most like to develop further, and the areas that you need the most work on to improve. Briefly describe the
employment situation that you are seeking and how it might promote your development in the areas that you have
mentioned.
3) Capstone Professional Presentation
We would like to provide you with an opportunity demonstrate your learning to our community during your final
year in the School Psychology Program. Interns will be divided into panels for the presentations, and each intern
will be allotted 10 minutes to present, including time for questions and discussion.
Presentations should model a NASP style presentation (eg, formal and with a clear trajectory or narrative), and
students should provide an outline of their presentation to their university supervisor by April 15. We invite you to
consider presenting one of the following:
A case study
A project or presentation you have developed during your internship year
A discussion of an area or practice niche you are carving out for yourself in your site or in the field
For whichever option you choose, please explain how you consider your theoretical framework to be relevant to
this presentation and to your practice. Your presentation should be carefully planned, and delivered in a
professional and engaging manner. You should be prepared to elicit and respond to questions.
Note: Students are responsible for bringing their own laptop computers (and a VGA projector adaptor for Mac users). (Students who are
working out of state will be offered the possibility of using Skype to deliver their presentation.)
Faculty will serve as moderators for the panel presentations. School Psychology Program faculty, supervisors, and
peers will evaluate presentations according to the following criteria:
