COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a comprehensive course that gives students an opportunity to pull together concepts they have
already learned in separate business fields (e.g., management, accounting, finance, operations,
production, and marketing) and utilise this knowledge in the analysis of complex business problems.
In today’s business environment of intense competition and rapid technological innovation and advances,
it is crucial that senior managers fully understand business issues and challenges in their respective areas
of expertise as well as those in other functional areas. The formulation and implementation of sound
business policies and strategies give managers a clear vision and guidance to shape the company’s destiny
by creating its own opportunities and exploiting emerging opportunities in the external environment.
Managers are required to constantly monitor and analyse their internal and external environments and
select best approaches to fulfil the company’s vision and mission.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
To promote learning and pragmatic decision-making, students will use case studies and corporate
simulation to develop policies and strategies, and evaluate their effectiveness in the results of operations.
