Applicants for the NIU Parents’ Association Scholarship must meet the following minimum criteria:
1.
Student must be a junior, degree-seeking NIU student, with declared major
2.
Preference will be given to applicants with a 3.0 cumulative G.P.A.

Part III: Personal Essay
Applicant must provide a 1000 word essay. This essay should include a description of family background, how
you’ve been involved with your extracurricular activities, length of time you have been involved with each
activity, career aspirations, and why you feel you deserve to receive the Parents’ Association Endowed
Scholarship Award.
Part IV: Personal References
Applicant must submit three (3) letters of reference. One must be from a professor in applicant’s major field of
study. The remaining letters may be from other personal references, but NOT from friends or family members.
Part V: Transcript
Applicant must supply a current NIU transcript (including fall semester grades) along with your application.
This does not need to be an official transcript.

available funds. This scholarship is a one-time award and is non-renewable.
