Kite
A kite has two pairs of equal sides. The equal sides
in each pair are next to each other. Only one pair of
opposite angles in a kite is equal.
Example:
PQRS is a kite.
SP = SR
PQ = RQ
p = q

Parallelogram
The opposite sides in a parallelogram are equal and
parallel. The opposite angles in a parallelogram are
equal.
Example:
AB = DC
AB is parallel to DC.
and
AD = BC
AD is parallel to BC.

Proportion
Proportion is a comparison of the quantity of a part to
the quantity of a whole.
Example:
1 in every 4 tarts is a strawberry tart.

Reflection
When a polygon is reflected, each point of the original
polygon is at an equal and perpendicular distance from
the mirror line as its reflection. The size and shape of
the polygon after reflection is the same as the original
polygon.
Example:
Reflect the triangle
PQR in the line MN.

Rhombus
The opposite sides in a rhombus are parallel. All of its
four sides are equal. The opposite angles in a rhombus
are equal.
Example:
EFGH is a rhombus.
EF is parallel to HG.
EH is parallel to FG.
EF = FG = HG = FH

Rotation
When a polygon is rotated about one of its vertices, the
coordinates of that vertex remain the same. The size
and shape of the polygon after rotation is the same as
the original polygon.
Example:
Rotate the rectangle
ABCD 180 clockwise
about A.

Round to the
nearest
hundredth
When we round a number to the nearest
hundredth, we look at the digit in the thousandths
place.
(a) If the digit < 5, we round it to the smaller
hundredth.
(b) If the digit > 5, we round it to the bigger
hundredth.
(c) If the digit = 5, we round it to the bigger
hundredth.
