WIN LU BALLADA CUP 1. The Win Lu Ballada Cup will cover Basic Accounting and Partnership & Corporation Accounting subjects. 2. A maximum of two (2) representatives per local chapter is encouraged with each representative competing individually. 3. Contestants must be on their comfortable formal/business look during the Semi-Final and Final Rounds. Proper attire for men is long sleeves, slacks and black shoes. Women are advised to wear presentable top(s), skirt/slacks and shoes/sandals. Wearing of slippers is not allowed. Violation in this rule may become a ground for disqualification. In view of the said rule, accounting contestants must be of appropriate attire as future practitioners of the business world. 4. Contestants can either be a 2nd year to 5th year student provided that he/she had passed the pre-requisite course subject he/she had taken which is covered by the topic of the competition. CONTEST RULES AND MECHANICS 5. This event is comprised of three rounds namely: the Elimination Round, the Semi-Final Round and the Final Round. The Elimination Round shall take place during the 1st day of the 11th Midyear Convention while the Semi-Final and Final Round shall be on the 2nd day. The Elimination Round 6. The Elimination Round is a written exam which aims to test the empowered basic knowledge. Time Allotment 60 minutes Contestants are only allowed to bring with them a calculator. Answer sheets, solving papers and markers shall be provided by the Standing Committee for Academics during the event. MARY ANN THERESE M. Tie breaking rules shall govern in the following order: (1) whoever gets the highest “accumulated True or False and Identification of Terms” score in the test shall be welcomed to the next round; (2) if in any case deadlock is still not broken, True or False score shall be used as basis; (3) clincher question(s) shall be given upon notice of the Standing Committee for Academics. The Semi-Final Round 9. The Semi-Final Round is composed of three (3) subset levels namely: Easy, Average and Difficult. Scores are reverted to zero. Corresponding points, time allotment and number of questions for the three (3) subset levels are as follows: Easy Average Difficult Clincher Theory Questions 10 seconds 10 seconds 10 seconds 10 seconds Problem req. Contestants are advised to be at the designated place fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled time of the competition. Late contestants are still allowed to participate yet will be deprived to answer the round and question/s missed. But after the first (2) questions in the easy sub-set of the Semi-Final round have elapsed, late contestant/s will be disqualified. 11. The contestants should write their answers clearly and legibly on the provided answer boards. Contestants who shall insist in writing the answers ambiguously, abbreviated or illegibly may still claim points for correct answers only upon the discretion of the Board of Judges. 12. Before proceeding to the next question, there will be given an allotted time of (10) seconds for the contestants to raise a protest/clarification, to request for new marker, ballpen or scratch paper, to change their calculator if it encounters a technical problem, or any other concern/s. After the allotted time has elapsed the quizmaster shall continue. 13. Contestants are provided with a copy of the question for every item. The contestants must not flip the copy of the question up to the distribution of each set of questions is done. The moment the quizmaster announces the question number that is the only time the contestant may read and answer the provided question. Any contestant who violated the said provision for the 2nd time shall be given sanction of accumulating only 50% of his total score in all subset levels. The contestants are allowed to manipulate their calculator only when the quizmaster says “Go!” Any contestant who will violate this provision shall encounter the same punishment aforementioned in Rule no. 13. 15. The contestants should have written their answers before the allotted time has elapsed. The contestants must raise their answer boards once the quizmaster declares so. Any contestant who fails to comply will receive a warning and his/her answer may be forfeited depending upon the decision of the Board of Judges. 16. The contestants must not erase what they have written in the answer board unless the quizmaster has given the clearance or after the 10 second allotted time per question has lapsed. This is so, in case of a dispute/protest has been made on a certain question in order for the answer to be documented properly. In view of the said protest, a contestant who erased their respective answer board is deemed to be forfeiting the chance to have a correct answer. 17. The top five (5) contestants garnering the highest scores after the last question of the difficult subset level shall advance to the final round. In case of a tie at the end of a round, tiebreaker questions shall be asked until the deadlock is broken. Whoever gets the right answer and raises his answer board first shall advance to the next round or otherwise be declared the winner. 18. The top five (5) contestants of the elimination round shall advance in the final round. Points shall not be forwarded to the next round. The Final Round 19. The Final round is called the “Buzzer Beaters Round” which will be played by the top five (5) finalists. 20. Fifteen questions shall be prepared for this round. All points of the contestants in the semi-final round shall revert to zero. Point deduction per wrong answer shall be imposed in this round. In order to win the game, they should reach the topmost level. For every correct answer, a contestant will move one level up. “RFJPIA Box” Top 3 22. The privilege to choose the first question in this round is given to the quizmaster. The contestant to first give the correct answer will be the next one who has the right to choose the succeeding item, and so on. 23. For a contestant who gave an incorrect answer, there will be a corresponding point deduction on that particular question depending upon the difficulty as stated in Rule no. 20. 24. Also, there will be a deduction to a contestant who provided a wrong answer though he has no points garnered at the time he answers the question. Simply stated, negative points shall be awarded. 25. The contestants are allowed to manipulate their calculator at any moment they opted to, provided, only when the quizmaster reads the first word in the problem. 26. The contestant may answer the question at any moment even if the quizmaster is still in the course of reading the question. Provided that before he presses the buzzer, his answer must be reduced to writing. Otherwise, his answer is deemed invalid. 27. The contestant who will press the buzzer first will get the chance to answer. This round provides two (2) chances of steal. Whoever answers the question first correctly will earn the corresponding points for that question. 28. The game shall end only when: A. There are three (3) contestants who have reach the topmost level of the formation or; B. All the 25 questions have been exhausted. MARY ANN THERESE M. The very first contestant to surpass the formation will be declared the Champion, followed by the 2nd Placer and the 3rd Placer. 30. In the event that there is only one (1) contestant who made it to be on the topmost level at the end of the game, the 2nd and the 3rd Placer will be determined based on the accumulation of points. The two (2) highest scorers shall be declared the 2nd and 3rd Placer respectively. 31. In the event that only (2) contestants reach the topmost level at the end of the game, the 3rd Placer will be determined based on the accumulation of points. The highest scorer among the remaining contestants shall be declared the 3rd Placer. 32. In case no one reaches the topmost level at the end of the game, the three (3) highest scorers will be declared the winners of the competition respectively. MARY ANN THERESE M.
