Section 2: Purposes and Objectives
1. Purpose of the course
To enable students to understand the basic concepts of communication process, levels and forms of
communication, factor influencing communication, communication in nursing, nurse-patient
therapeutic/helping relationship, and professional characteristics and communication skills developments
2. Purpose in course development/Improve subject
- Communication is vital in daily life. Therefore, it is important that students have knowledge and
understand about communication process, factors influencing communication and improve
communication skills efficiently.
- Communication in nursing is important in nursing because it is basic skill to communicate with patients
to find out patients’ problems, to build nurse-patient therapeutic/helping relationship, and to develop
professional characteristics
Section 3: Course Description and Working Process
1. Course description
Basic concepts of communication process, levels and forms of communication, factor
influencing communication, communication in nursing, nurse-patient therapeutic/helping relationship;
professional characteristics development and communication skills are focused.

- Student makes an appointment with teacher and meets at designated time.
