What's New in Clippership Version 14.7.00 What’s New contains a summary of new features and changes since the last major version. The information is categorized by general application and carrier-specific functionality. The numbers appearing in brackets at the end of each item are internal reference numbers. General New None Modified Because the Oz.exe program (a third-party program) looked for a window title that begins with "Clippership", it quit prematurely when the system file status message window that was introduced in Version 14.6.00 closed. To prevent the Oz.exe program from quitting before the Clippership logon screen or splash screen appears, the window title of the system file status message window has been changed to "Initializing Clippership". [CS-262] This release includes Version 5.2.00 of the Kewill Peripheral Engine. Discontinued None FedEx - common to both FedEx Express and FedEx Ground New A new check box setting to remove intra-Canada taxes from the tot_chg for intra-Canada shipments appears in the Configure FedEx Express and Configure FedEx Ground dialog boxes. If you are using FSMS phase 100x or higher, select the Remove GST/HST/QST Taxes check box to remove the intra-Canada taxes from the tot_chg for intra-Canada shipments. The taxes will not be stored in a separate field (previously, the taxes were stored in the rsc_chg field). The default setting is unchecked. [CS-279] Modified None Discontinued None FedEx Express Rate Change: Because updated rate files for FedEx Express will not be available to vendors like Kewill in time to include them in this Version, Kewill will supply a patch in January for the FedEx Express rate changes (updated rate files) that are effective January 3, 2011. Full Compliance users will automatically receive updated rates from the FedEx Ship Manager Server (FSMS) while processing packages in Clippership beginning January 3, 2011. The FedEx Express compliance changes that are effective January 17, 2011 will be supplied entirely by the FedEx Ship Manager Server (Version 8.5.4 or 10.0.05 is required) and do not require any updates in Clippership. See the following help topic for a list of the FedEx Express rate and compliance changes effective January 3 and 17, 2011 (based on currently available information): FedEx Express Rate Change 2011 New None Modified If you are using FedEx Ship Manager Server (FSMS) Version 10.0x, you can now use the FedEx Express Saver services (F14, F33, and F34) for FedEx Transborder Distribution shipments. You need to do the following to enable the Express Saver services on your Canada origin Transborder Distribution-enabled account: o Add the Express Saver services to your Canada origin Transborder Distribution account through carrier code setup, as they will not be added automatically for Canada origin accounts. o Add the Transborder Distribution Special Service to those carrier codes in carrier code setup so that those carrier codes will be available to use for Transborder Distribution shipments. [CS-188] In Version 14.6.0x, if you shipped a FedEx Express package with FedEx Express® C.O.D. (Unsecured) and had Clippership prompt for COD amount, Clippership changed it to FedEx Express® C.O.D. (Secured) (COD_FLAG = Y) in the Ship File. This issue has been fixed. If the COD amount was passed by Kewill.Integrate, there was no issue. [CS-272] o The FedEx international broker Customer ID/EIN field (EIN; BRK_EIN) has been expanded to 15 characters (the maximum allowed by the FedEx Ship Manager Server). You can populate the broker EIN in the FedEx International Broker Select File (FDX_BRKR.FIL) for use with the FedEx International Broker Select Special Service. [CS-267] Previously, if you shipped a dangerous good that did not include a technical name, empty parenthesis printed on the FedEx Express Dangerous Goods form in the location where the technical name would print. This issue has been fixed so that empty parenthesis will not print for dangerous goods items with no technical name. [KPE-60] In Version 14.6.0x, nothing printed in the doctab portion of doctab labels for FedEx Express international shipments. This issue has been fixed. [KPE-62] Discontinued None FedEx Ground Rate Change: Because updated rate files for FedEx Ground will not be available to vendors like Kewill in time to include them in this Version, Kewill will supply a patch in January for the FedEx Ground rate changes (updated rate files) that are effective January 3, 2011. Full Compliance users processing FedEx Ground via the FedEx Ship Manager Server (FSMS) will automatically receive updated rates from the (FSMS) while processing packages in Clippership beginning January 3, 2011. Version 14.7.00 supports the FedEx Ground dimensional weight factor change that is effective January 3, 2011. See the following help topic for a list of the FedEx Ground rate and compliance changes effective January 3, 2011 (based on currently available information): FedEx Ground Rate Change 2011 New You can now configure Clippership to print a name in the three Signature boxes on the FedEx Ground hazardous materials shipping paper (OP-900LL). The following fields have been added to the Clippership user-interface: Dialog Box Field Description Configure FedEx Ground (in account setup) Hazmat Signature Type the name that you want to print on the OP900LL form by default if the Haz Sig field in the user's profile is empty. If both this field and the Haz Sig field are empty, nothing will print in the three Signature boxes on the OP-900LL form. Add/Edit User (Utilities > User Profiles) Haz Sig (HAZSIG in user.fil) Formerly used exclusively for UPS (UPS Sig field), this field has been renamed to Haz Sig in the Add/Edit User dialog box. Use this field to type the name that you want to print on the OP-900LL form. If both the Hazmat Signature field in account setup and this field are populated, the name that appears in this field will print on the OP-900LL form. To support these additions, a HAZSIG field has been added to the User Profiles database (user.fil). This is used by both UPS and FedEx Ground. When you upgrade to this version, the user profile setup section from the UPS.INI file will be copied to the user.fil and that section in the UPS.INI will no longer be referenced. Unlike the UPS functionality, Clippership will not block FedEx Ground hazardous materials shipments from being processed if both the Hazmat Signature field in account setup and the Haz Sig field in the shipper's user profile are empty. [CS-261] Modified Clippership no longer requires the Technical Shipping Name field (TECHNAME) to be populated for all hazardous material items in the FedEx Ground Hazardous Materials database (CS_HZMT.FIL). However, the technical name is required by the Department of Transportation for certain commodities. The shipper is responsible for entering the technical name when it is required for the commodity. [CS251] Previously, the technical name for a hazardous material did not print on the end-of-day FedEx Ground Hazardous Materials Certification Manifest (OP-950). This issue has been fixed. [CS-259] Previously, after shipping a hazardous materials item with an emergency phone number that was different from the account-level emergency phone number (this functionality was introduced in Version 14.5.06), the account-level emergency phone number printed on the FedEx Ground shipping label for the package. The item's emergency phone number correctly printed on the FedEx Ground hazardous materials shipping paper (OP-900LL). Now, when you ship a hazardous item with an emergency phone number that is different from the account-level emergency phone number, the item's emergency phone number (instead of the account-level emergency phone number) prints on the shipping label. [CS-256] In Version 14.6.0x, if you processed a FedEx Ground multi-package shipment using FSMS phase 100x, the ship weight (SHP_WGT) that was recorded in the Ship File was accumulated for each package after the first package. This also resulted in the total shipment weight (OSHP_WGT) being incorrect. This issue has been fixed so that only the last package's ship weight (SHP_WGT) will be the total of all of the ship weights for the shipment and the OSHP_WGT will be equal to that last package's SHP_WGT. This is also how FedEx Express multi-package shipments work. [CS-313] Discontinued None FedEx SmartPost New None Modified Updated rates take effect on January 3, 2011. FedEx SmartPost shippers will need to import updated rate files via the FedEx Ship Manager Server Configuration utility. Discontinued None Lone Star Overnight New Adult Signature Required Special Service has been added for Lone Star Overnight. After you select Adult Signature Required (DCS_FLAG = A) for a Lone Star Overnight package, an indicator prints at the bottom of the shipping label and is included in the EDI upload file. [CS-287] Clippership now supports the Delivery Area Surcharge (DLC_FLAG) for Lone Star Overnight. [CS285] Modified You can now enter up to four reference field values to include in the Lone Star Overnight EDI upload file by using the new Edit Package References Special Service. This populates the PKGREFD1 through PKGREFD4 fields in the Detail File. Previously, the only way to populate those fields was via Kewill.Integrate. The existing ability to supply and print the package ID reference value on the shipping label remains and has not changed. [CS-286] Previously, you could process a Lone Star Overnight package supplying only the ZIP Code for the 'Ship To' address. At the carrier's request, Clippership now requires the following 'Ship To' address lines to be populated for a Lone Star Overnight package: Attention or Company, Street Address, City/State, and ZIP Code. Note that Clippership will not require a state code when shipping to Mexico with the Lone Star Overnight Mexico Service (LL5). [CS-284, CS-318] If any dashes or other symbols appear in the Ship From or Ship To phone numbers for a Lone Star Overnight package, Clippership now removes them before creating the EDI file. [CS-319] Discontinued None UPS New None Modified The UPS rate changes for 2011 (effective January 3) are supported in this release. Remember, before anyone uses Clippership on January 3, all users must be logged out of Clippership. [CS-299 - CS-301] Effective January 3, 2011, UPS will use a new set of rates for new customers and customers who are re-negotiating their contract. This new set of rates is called Standard List Rates. The three sets of rates that will be supported in Clippership are as follows: Rate Type Description Standard List Rates New set of rates being introduced on January 3, 2011. This set of rates is for new UPS customers and customers who are re-negotiating their contract with UPS. Daily Rates (also known as 'Base' rates) This is the set of rates Clippership has always supported in the standard product. Customer Negotiated Rates These are custom rates for customers with a negotiated UPS contract. These are configured in Clippership by a Kewill Technical Support engineer. Clippership supports the addition of the new Standard List Rates as follows: Clippership includes a new file for the Standard List Rates (UPS_RATE.LST). The existing Daily Rates file is UPS_RATE.FIL. A new list (called Rate Type) appears in the Configure United Parcel Service dialog box. In the Rate Type list, you can select either Daily Rates or Standard List Rates. This setting determines the set of rates Clippership will use in rating your UPS packages on that account. Select the rate type that is defined in your UPS contract. Consult your UPS account representative if you are unsure which rate type to use. When you upgrade, all of your UPS accounts will be set to Daily Rates. All new installations of Clippership after January 3 will be set to Standard List Rates. In a future release of Clippership, the Rate Type setting will be read-only and will be set by your UPS Mailbox. The Rate Type setting is ignored until January 3, 2011. [CS-276] Effective January 3, 2011, UPS no longer allows hazardous materials shipments using UPS Ground to Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico. Clippership will remove the Hazardous Materials Special Service from the Special Services list while rating a UPS Ground shipment destined to Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico. If Hazardous Materials Special Service is pre-set to Y via Carrier Code Setup or Kewill.Integrate, Clippership will display an error stating Hazardous Materials is not available to this destination with UPS Ground while rating the shipment. [CS-314] Effective January 3, 2011, the divisor used to calculate dimensional weight will change as follows: Service Old Divisor New Divisor U.S. Domestic UPS Air services 194 166 U.S. Domestic UPS Ground (packages 3 cubic feet or larger in size) 194 166 Export services from the U.S. 166 139 UPS Standard to Canada (packages 3 cubic feet or larger in size) 166 139 Effective January 3, 2011, unless your account is exempt, UPS rates international multi-package shipments by comparing the actual, dimensional, and Large Package minimum billable weight of each package, taking the greater of those values for each package to arrive at the billable weight for each package (the 'package billable weight'), summing the package billable weights, then comparing that sum to the result of the average minimum package billable weight (if applicable) times the number of packages in the shipment, taking the greater of that comparison and rounding that value to the next whole pound to arrive at the billable weight for the shipment. Previously, the billable weight for the shipment was determined by comparing the rounded up values of the sum of the actual weights (actual weight or Large Package minimum billable weight, whichever is greater) of the packages to the sum of the dimensional weights (dim weight or Large Package minimum billable weight, whichever is greater) of the packages, then comparing those rounded-up sums to the result of the average minimum package billable weight (if applicable) times the number of packages in the shipment, then taking the greatest of that comparison to arrive at the billable weight for the shipment. Clippership supports this new method of rating international multi-package shipments and includes the following new setting in the Configure United Parcel Service dialog box to define the exemption status of your account. International Billable Weight Determination list has two options: Setting Description Package (Non-exempt) This account is not exempt from the new rating rule. Effective January 3, international multi-package shipments processed with this account will be rated according to the new rule: Comparing the actual, dimensional, and Large Package minimum billable weight of each package, taking the greater of those values for each package to arrive at the billable weight for each package (the 'package billable weight'), summing the package billable weights, then comparing that sum to the result of the average minimum package billable weight (if applicable) times the number of packages in the shipment, taking the greater of that comparison and rounding that value to the next whole pound to arrive at the billable weight for the shipment. This is the default setting. Shipment (Exempt) This account is exempt from the new rating rule. International multi-package shipments processed with this account will continue to be rated as follows: Comparing the rounded up values of the sum of the actual weights (actual weight or Large Package minimum billable weight, whichever is greater) of the packages to the sum of the dimensional weights (dim weight or Large Package minimum billable weight, whichever is greater) of the packages, then comparing those rounded-up sums to the result of the average minimum package billable weight (if applicable) times the number of packages in the shipment, then taking the greatest of that comparison to arrive at the billable weight for the shipment. Also, Clippership will display the Actual, Dimensional, and Billed weights in the Total Weight section at the bottom of the UPS International Information screen after you exit the Box Information screen while processing an international shipment. All three values are displayed in the Total Weight section regardless of the account's exemptions status (but the Billed value will be different depending on the exemption status). Previously, only the Total Weight (actual) and Total Dim Weight were displayed. Large Package charges will be included in the Billed value only. In the line item section above the Total Weight section, 'AH' will indicate Additional Handling, 'LP' will indicate Large Package, and the Billed value (the package billable weight) will not appear for exempt accounts. The International Billable Weight Determination setting is ignored until January 3 and the Billed value will not appear while processing an international shipment until January 3. [CS-274, CS-325] Effective immediately, you can no longer use a social security number as the exporter ID number for international shipments. This is to comply with the U.S Department of Commerce, Bureau of Census which has eliminated the use of social security numbers as a U.S. Principal Party in Interest (USPPI) ID Type. The exporter ID must be either a DUNS number or an employer ID number. Clippership supports this change as follows: o In the Configure UPS International dialog box and in the Importer/Exporter Information dialog box (accessible while processing an international shipment), the following changes have been made: The social security number option has been removed from the Tax ID list. The remaining options are Employers ID # and DUNS #. The Employers ID#/Social Security#/DUNS# field label has been renamed to Employers ID #. o If you have a social security number populated in the Configure UPS International dialog box, a warning message appears when you open the Configure United Parcel Service dialog box. o If you use Kewill.Integrate to process UPS international shipments, a warning message appears if the first record in the UPS international file contains a value of '06' (for social security number) in the EXP_TXIDTY (Exporter's Tax ID Type) field. [CS-275, CS-302] This release includes Version 09.5A of the UPS Routing Code file dated 10/2010. Note: This file is for new installations. Upgrades should already have this file in place via automatic UPS download. Discontinued None U.S. Postal Service New None Modified The U.S. Postal Service rate changes and service enhancements for 2011 (effective January 2) are supported in this release. Remember, before anyone uses Clippership on January 2, all users must be logged out of Clippership. [CS-295 - CS-297] Previously, when you rated a Priority Mail (P03) package with dimensions that exceed the maximum allowed for Priority Mail, Clippership displayed an error and re-set the dimensions to zero. This caused a problem during a Rate Shop because the dimensions were set to zero for only the Priority Mail package resulting in misleading Rate Shop results with the Priority Mail package showing the lowest rate. This issue has been fixed so that the dimensions will not be re-set to zero when they exceed the maximum. [CS-131] The human-readable numeric representation below the bar code on Express Mail labels has been reformatted to comply with U.S. Postal Service specifications as follows: the numbers will now be parsed in groups of four with any remaining digits grouped at the end (for example, "EA 1234 5689 5 US"). This is fixed for all supported printers. [KPE-59] Clippership has updated U.S. Postal Service labels for all supported printers to comply with the latest U.S. Postal Service specifications. Changes made include bar code size, font size, white space, and capitalization of the text ELECTRONIC RATE APPROVED. [KPE-64] This Version includes an updated U.S. Postal Service domestic zone file which was effective in October. [CS-316] Discontinued None Fixes from 14.6.0x releases UPS The UPS Commit table query has been modified to retrieve the correct record and prevent the error "Destination ZIP code not found in UPS commit file" that occurred for some valid ZIP Codes when shipping with UPS Next Day Air service. This was done in 14.6.01. [CS-258]
