I am Michael Burnett and I am a senior at Kellam
High School. I will be attending Virginia Military
Institute in June to wrestle and get an applied
mathematics degree. I plan on commissioning with
the Army and being a Ranger. Surfing and wrestling
make me who I am as a person today and they are
my outlets where I can express myself. I have an
awesome, supportive family with my mom, Penny, my
dad, Fred, and my brother, Jason. I am very into
volunteering for Special Olympics because my
brother has Down Syndrome and it means the world
to him to see people there for him.

Dear reader,
This portfolio is revealing me as a writer for you. I am
going to show you my attempts from elementary school
where I had just as hard of a time writing it as you
probably will reading my hand writing. Then I will take
you through my rough but almost there writing of middle
school. It is not very creative but I tried my hardest.
Then you will see the big difference that took place in
high school where I learned techniques and got a little
more creative. I think you will easily be able to see the
transformation and I hope you enjoy this display of my
forward progress as a writer.
