The River Is Here
Words and Music: Andy Park
Down the mountain the river flows,
and it brings refreshing wherever it goes.
Through the valleys and over the fields,
the river is rushing and the river is here.
The river of God sets our feet a-dancing,
The river of God fills our hearts with cheer;
The river of God fills our mouths with laughter,
and we rejoice for the river is here.

The River Is Here
Words and Music: Andy Park
The river of God is teeming with life,
and all who touch it can be revived.
And those who linger on this river’s shore
will come back thirsting for more of the Lord.
The river of God sets our feet a-dancing,
The river of God fills our hearts with cheer;
The river of God fills our mouths with laughter,
and we rejoice for the river is here.

The River Is Here
Words and Music: Andy Park
Up to the mountain we love to go,
to find the presence of the Lord.
Along the banks of the river we run,
we dance with laughter,
giving praise to the Son.
The river of God sets our feet a-dancing,
The river of God fills our hearts with cheer;
The river of God fills our mouths with laughter,
and we rejoice for the river is here.

You Came to Give Us Life
Leader: Lord, You came to give us life.
ALL:
Forgive us when we deny this
life to others by averting our
eyes from the way they have to
live.
You Came to Give Us Life
Leader: Lord, you came to give us
freedom.
ALL:
Forgive us when we ignore the
chains of homelessness that
hold our brothers and sisters
captive.
You Came to Give Us Life
Leader: Lord, you came to give us
peace.
ALL:
Forgive us when we are full of
resentment and envy, at odds
with our neighbours.
Leader: Lord, you came to bring us joy.
ALL:
Forgive us when your joy
eludes us because we try to
hold on to it too tightly.

Our Father, who art in Heaven
Words: Paul Field and Stephen Deal
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread
and forgive our sins,
as we forgive each one of those
who sins against us;

Words: Paul Field and Stephen Deal
Let all the people say ‘Amen’
in every tribe and tongue;
let every heart’s desire be joined
to see the kingdom come.
Let every hope and every dream
be born in love again;
let all the world sing with one voice,
let the people say ‘Amen.’

Human Sexual Trafficking
Between 700,000 and
4,000,000 people are
trafficked annually worldwide –
many of these people are
women and children who have
been sexually trafficked.
Human Sexual
Trafficking is a
form of slavery.
It is when human beings are
sold and bought for the
purposes of sexual exploitation.
• Over the last 10 years, the
numbers of women and children
(who) have been trafficked have
multiplied so that they are now on
par with estimates of the numbers
of Africans who were enslaved in
the 16th and 17th centuries.”
Laura Lederer, Harvard University, 2000
At least 2500
foreign women
and girls are
coerced into
joining the
Canadian sex
trade each year
by human
traffickers.
There are also
many Canadian
women and girls
being trafficked
within Canada.
Aboriginal women and girls are
being trafficked at horrifying, and
disproportionate rates.
Trafficking is always involuntary,
because even when consent is
achieved, it is only through some
form of fraud
or deception,
abduction or
abuse of power.
90% of people sexually
trafficked or prostituted are
women and girls. Most of these
women come from the South
and East.
Proverbs 14:31
“Whoever oppresses the poor
shows contempt for their
Maker, but whoever is kind to
the needy honours God.”
It is better to light
one small candle
than to curse the
darkness.
PLEASE PRAY!

God.”
Pray for families
• For Safety
• For
acceptance
and
forgiveness
Ephesians 6:12
• “For our struggle is not against
flesh and blood, but against the
rulers, against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark
world and against the spiritual
forces of evil in the heavenly
realms.”
Pray for traffickers
• For their complete repentance,
redemption and end to trafficking.
• For healing,
healthy
relationships, and
justice
Pray for government leaders

Isaiah 61:1 - 4
• “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because
the LORD has anointed me to proclaim
good news to the poor. He has sent me to
bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim
freedom for the captives and release from
darkness for the prisoners… to bestow on
them a crown of beauty instead of ashes…
a garment of praise instead of a spirit of
despair.”
Pray for The Salvation Army, The
Church & Faith-Based Groups
•
Pray for passion, wisdom,
safety, love, compassion, unity
Isaiah 58: 6
• “Is not this the kind of fasting I
have chosen: to loose the
chains of injustice and untie
the cords of the yoke, to set
the oppressed free and break
every yoke?”
He’s got the
whole world in
His hands!
Let us join
hands with our
sisters and
brothers and
fight together
to end Human
Sexual
Trafficking.
A prayer for trafficked persons

you and keep you;
the LORD make
his face to shine on
you and be
gracious to you;
the LORD turn his
face toward you
and give you

The love of God is greater far
than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song!

Could we with ink the ocean fill
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Tho’ stretched from sky to sky.

Why Should I be a Slave to Sin?
Why should I be a slave to sin,
To foes without or foes within?
Sometimes I mount, sometimes cast down,
Sometimes all smile, sometimes all frown.
Why Should I be a Slave to Sin?
Chorus
There's victory for me!
There's victory for me!
Through the blood of the Lamb there is
victory for me;
He came to set his people free
And give them perfect victory.
Why Should I be a Slave to Sin?
Sin will abound till grace comes in,
Then grace shall triumph over sin;
Just now, dear Saviour, let it be,
Now give me perfect victory.
Why Should I be a Slave to Sin?
Chorus
There's victory for me!
There's victory for me!
Through the blood of the Lamb there is
victory for me;
He came to set his people free
And give them perfect victory.
Why Should I be a Slave to Sin?
Be thou my strength, be thou my all,
Then surely I shall never fall;
If none can pluck me from thy hand,
I more than conqueror shall stand.
Why Should I be a Slave to Sin?
Chorus
There's victory for me!
There's victory for me!
Through the blood of the Lamb there is
victory for me;
He came to set his people free
And give them perfect victory.
Why Should I be a Slave to Sin?
'Tis true I have no room to boast;
When most I'm saved I'm humbled most;
Kept low by grace, and not by sin,
My soul shall make her boast in him.

Prayer for an end to Trafficking
O God, our words cannot express
what our minds can barely comprehend
and our hearts feel
when we hear of women and girls
deceived and transported
to unknown places for the purposes of
sexual exploitation and abuse
because of human greed and profit
at this time in our world.
Prayer for an end to Trafficking
Our hearts are saddened
and our spirits angry
that their dignity and rights are being
transgressed through threats, deception
and force.
We cry out against the degrading practice
of trafficking and pray for it to end.
Prayer for an end to Trafficking
Strengthen the fragile-spirited and
broken-hearted.
Make real your promises
to fill our sisters with a love
that is tender and good
and send the exploiters away
empty-handed.
Prayer for an end to Trafficking
Give us the wisdom and the courage
To stand in solidarity with them
so that together we will find ways
for the freedom
that is your gift to all of us.
Prayer by School Sisters of Notre Dame
from their Trafficking Reflection Booklet
Make Me A Servant
Make me a servant, humble and meek,
Lord let me lift up those who are weak.
And may the prayer of my heart always be:
Make me a servant,
make me a servant,
make me a servant today!

We've a Story to Tell to the Nations
We've a story to tell to the nations
That shall turn their hearts to the right,
A story of truth and mercy,
A story of peace and light,
A story of peace and light.
We've a Story to Tell to the Nations
For the darkness shall turn to dawning,
And the dawning to noonday bright,
And Christ's great kingdom shall come to
earth,
The Kingdom of love and light.
We've a Story to Tell to the Nations
We've a song to be sung to the
nations
That shall lift their hearts to the Lord,
A song that shall conquer evil
And shatter the spear and sword,
And shatter the spear and sword.
We've a Story to Tell to the Nations
For the darkness shall turn to dawning,
And the dawning to noonday bright,
And Christ's great kingdom shall come to
earth,
The Kingdom of love and light.
We've a Story to Tell to the Nations
We've a message to give to the
nations,
That the Lord who reigneth above
Hath sent us his Son to save us,
And show us that God is love,
And show us that God is love.
We've a Story to Tell to the Nations
For the darkness shall turn to dawning,
And the dawning to noonday bright,
And Christ's great kingdom shall come to
earth,
The Kingdom of love and light.
We've a Story to Tell to the Nations
We've a Saviour to show to the
nations
Who the path of sorrow hath trod,
That all of the world's great peoples
Might come to the truth of God,
Might come to the truth of God.

Lord Jesus,
it is better to light one
candle than to give up
hope and curse the
darkness.
It is better to save
one stranger from
deportation, and reunite
one family, than to say that
it is not our problem
and we can’t do too much
to help.
It is better to join hands
in one work of love,
than to sit on our hands
and feel powerless.
Lord, help us to love
you in the stranger
and the refugee.
Help us to love
ourselves enough to
believe that
we can change things
for the better.
Help us to love as you
have loved us.
Amen.
