MAT 1033 COURSE INFORMATION

Prerequisite: MAT 0022C or MAT 0028 with grade of S, or a CPT score
in the required range.
Text: Intermediate Algebra by Miller / O’Neill /Hyde (4th edition). Since

This section of MAT-1033 (Intermediate Algebra) is BLENDED. That means that you
will
attend the class only once a week, on Tuesday. I will cover in class most of the topics.
You are responsible for learning by yourself the material that is not covered in class and
that is assigned in the homework.
Attendance: It is extremely important to attend each lecture and arrive on time, as well
as keep records of assignments and other information delivered during class. In the event
that you are absent, it is useful to have the name and phone number of at least one other
student in class that you can call and ask for missed lecture notes and assignments If you
miss class for any reason, you have the responsibility to make up the work missed.
Attendance will be recorded for administrative purposes only.
Classroom Decorum: In order to optimize your learning experience, classroom
interruption must be kept to a minimum. Please, turn your cell phone or any other
noising electronic devise to a silent mode and avoid using it during class.
Academic dishonesty: Any instance of academic dishonesty will result in a grade of F
for the course and can carry an even more severe penalty such as suspension or
expulsion.
Grading Policy:
Your grade will be based on the following:
1. Online homework 10%
2. Two online tests 30%
3. Two in class tests 60%
4. Optional Final Exam. The final exam will replace the lowest score from
the in class exams.
Grading scale
A: 90 - 100
B: 80 - 89
C: 65 - 79
D: 50 - 64
F: less than 50 percent
