Who am I?
• I’m a mother of 1 and 9 months year old baby girl
• My name is Lourdes Caraballo Mercado
• I was born on Nov-30-1984 in Eagle Lake Florida, Polk
County
• I am 29 years old
• Graduated in 2010 and obtained a BA Arts of Education
from K-6 (UPRA)
• Pre-school Assistant Certification in 2012

• Currently studying M.A.E.E. in UPRM

What I like?
• Listen to music
• sing
• read
• go to the beach
• play volleyball
• pass quality time with my family and my daughter
• work at church with youth groups
• Love to eat pizza, and ice cream
Teaching Experience
• My first experience teaching was in 2010. I taught fouth grade in a private
school in San Sebastian, called Chimaps.
• In 2011 I also taught in Chimaps. I was assigned fouth grade and Literature for
eleventh grade.
Teaching Philosophy
• Student are active agent in the learning process.
• They build their knowledge through their previous and new experiences
• Learning is reciprocally.
• The teacher guides and motivate students to:
• feel free to express, and share different points of views orally and through
creative writing.
• Make use of values, these are the basis of the formation in the life of every human
being and citizen.
• Help them use the Zone of Proximal Development (ZDP) from Lev Vygotsky.
Curricular Maps for eleventh grade
Unit 11.2: Identity – The Personal Narrative (5 weeks)
• Unit Summary
In this unit, students will focus on the genre of personal narrative by reading and
listening to high quality examples and by writing their own pieces. Students will examine
character development, parts of the plot, theme and cause and effect through the novels they
read and essays they write.
• Transfer goal: Students will leave the class able to better understand the genre of
personal narrative by making connections from the readings to themselves, their peers,
and other people in society, and applying what they learn to their writing.
Content Standards and Expectations
Writing
• W.11.1 Analyzes and selects appropriate words to convey meaning; incorporates
transitions, correct grammar, syntax, and style.

Materials we will need:
• Paper/notebook
• Pencil or pen
• Computer/tablet
• Creativity
Hands on the activity !
• Students will create a short story using their creativity and imagination. They can write
their story on paper/ notebook, or write it directly on a computer/tablet using power
point or other similar program.
• Students will include in their story the following: cover page (first slide), dedication and
identify their audience (example: children, teenagers, young adult).
• Students will integrate in their story features such as: pictures, sounds (these should be or
have relationship with the topic of the story), scroll buttons, among others.
• The story must include a morale and a value (examples of values: respect, patriotism,
empathy, solidarity, etc.…)

This story will be included in your digital portfolio.

• Remember your short is to be worked on individually.
• Focus first, on the writing, then add any pictures,
animations, sounds and any other features after you
have finished to write your short story.
