Associated Students of Gavilan College Spring 2015 Candidate Biographies Priscilla Ahmed (President Candidate) My name is Priscilla Ahmed and I am a mother of three beautiful children. I am determined, independent, and strong. I have been participating in ASB for about two semesters; I am currently the VP of Clubs. I have participated in many school events and have also been in charge of my own events. I am a student representative on the distance education committee. I will be graduating from Gavilan College in spring 2016. My goal is to transfer to a 4 year college. Adrian Lopez (Student Trustee Candidate) I am smart, I am kind, I am important. I am Adrian Lopez and I wish to become the Student Trustee of Gavilan College for the academic year of 2015-2016. The primary reasons why I would like to achieve this position is to make a positive and lasting impact for student right’s, student success, and student life. I am currently involved as Vice President of Events and Activities for the Associated Student of Gavilan College, member of Rho Alpha Mu (Honors Society), member of the Out Club, member of the Re-Entry Club, student representative for the Student Service Council, past representative for the Learning Council, and also a Supplemental Instructor Leader and Writing Assistant for the Writing Center at Gavilan College. I continuously do volunteer work in the community and I feel I am a great leader. I am very involved in a lot of aspects of this campus and I am well received by all students, faculty, and staff. I am a great listener, compassionate, and I always try to help others. I am working to receive a degree and transfer to a University of California to major in Psychology. My ultimate aspiration is to become a Doctor of Psychology and Behavioral Science. I currently have a 3.8 grade point average, I am dedicated, motivated, and a hard worker in all facets of my life. I will work my hardest to make a difference in my school and community. Please vote for me so I can do what others have failed to do, work for the students and represent them accurately and honestly. David DiDenti (Region IV Representative Candidate) I am a passionate Gavilan student that believes in bettering Gavilan College life for students first, but also for those who are work at the college. Some of my goals towards bettering college life include: increasing awareness of Region IV ideas/issues, increasing awareness of community college state level ideas/issues, and increasing student advocacy by ASGC members. I am interested in joining ASGC to continue advocating for the students of Gavilan College through ASGC meetings, Gavilan campus shared governance committees, Region IV meetings, and community college state level processes. I believe the goals and college life I have for Gavilan College students may be accomplished through what I bring to the college. I have extensive educational experience that includes an MBA, a BS in Information Technology, and five degrees from Gavilan College: Computer Programing, Programming for the Internet, Business Computer Applications, Liberal Arts Computer Science and Information Systems Emphasis, and Communication Studies. Additionally, I have five semesters as an ASGC member that includes two semesters as the Region IV Representative, two semesters as the VP of Communication, and one semester as the VP of Coordinated Services. I have been the student representative on President’s Council, Academic Senate, District Technology, Curriculum, and Student Mediation Committees. Lastly, I have been involved in numerous campus organizations that include president of Rho Alpha Mu and Communication Club. Document1 Page 1
