You might call them bohemians or pejoratively as hipsters, but facial hair, manbuns and tatoos needn’t be shied away from. All roles are open to all races. Vocally the score is Folk/Pop and should be sung by pop/folk/rock voices. We are not looking for legitimate Musical theatre sound but more along the lines of Mumford and Sons. All actors besides Robin and Marion play two or three roles. Personalities are huge here; charming, fun and adventurous story tellers. Each actor must bring energy and stakes to each scene, no broody. Outward not inward. Each person plays at least two roles, many more - and these characters have to be defined by the turn of a head. All Roles Available: ROBIN (Male) 18 – 35: Bari-Tenor Rocker (G’s and A’s are preferred). RP. An aristocrat, a party boy with a sense of humor, thrown into the wilderness and forced to fend for himself. He becomes a hero. MARION (Female) 18 – 35: Pop/Folk singing with a great belt (at least a C belt, but ideally to a D). RP. Sly sense of humor. Stronger and more active than the usual Marian. MEG (Female) 18 – 35: Scottish accent. Mezzo or Alto with HIGH belt. A woman from the young Earl of Loxley’s past who finds him in the wilderness and trains him to be Robin Hood. A former prostitute but now rag-picker — Strong, down to earth, matter of fact. MUCH (Male) 15 – 18: One of the Merry Men. The youngest. Unlike the others he should be in his late teens or very early 20’s. Short. Tenor. Must also play Crank, a deranged Beggar - so really requires a young versatile character actor. ALAN-A-DALE (Male) 18 – 35: Bari-Tenor. Sexy. Funny. Narrator. 2nd romantic lead so must be charming and unconventionally cute / attractive. LADY JANE (female): Strong Pop alto. Lady in waiting to Maid Marian. Good sarcastic sense of humor LADY ANNE (Female) 18 – 35: Strong Pop Soprano. Lady in waiting to Maid Marian. Elegant and sophisticated. Love interest to Alan A’Dale. Witty, RP with a sense of humour. Her life has become an adventure and it is thrilling for her. WILL SCARLET (Male) 18 – 35: Tenor. More camp than usually portrayed, but also able to play the Villainous SMOTE LITTLE JOHN (Male) 18 – 35: One of the merry men. Over 6ft tall. Larger, bigger than the others. Bari / Tenor. FRIAR TUCK (Male) 18 – 35: Bari / Tenor. One of the Merry Men. More robust than usually portrayed, less soft. Just back from the Crusades, and a fighter. GAMBLE GOLD (Male) 18 – 35: Bari/Tenor. RP. Robin Hoods aristocratic cousin, who brings the green clothing (he’s from Lincolnshire). SHERIFF (Male) 18 – 35: Baritone. The villain! Nasty piece of work. Scrambling to stay afloat with all the titles around. Mean spirited cruel sense of humor. Looking for a BRILLIANT comedian. GUY OF GISBOURNE (Male) 18 – 35: Bari/Tenor. He’s very handsome with good comedy chops, but selfish and corrupt. A cheater who slowly goes insane. PRINCE JOHN (Male) 18 – 35: Bari/Tenor Regal, but must have wicked and strong sense of humor.
