“LIKE ME” STRATEGY

Purpose: Inclusion activity
when you do not yet have a
relationship with the group.

Tip: Try to include
categories that will likely
allow everyone to stand at
least once.
INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP
Goal: Vision 2020
“By 2020, WCPSS will annually graduate at least 95%
of its students ready for productive citizenship as
well as higher education or a career.”
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES AS
INDICATED BY THE DATA
GRADUATION RATE

…is at its highest point overall since 2005—84.3%

…has decreased slightly for black students,
economically disadvantaged students and students
with disabilities.

…has increased for white and Asian students.

…is correlated to Reading EOG scores in grades 3
and 8.
RETENTION RATES

Of students that are retained in 9th grade…
 60% failed English.
 50% failed science AND social studies.

Retention rates decrease as students matriculate
to the upper grades of high school.
CONNECTION TO READING
