When the female python has laid her eggs she pushes them into a mount and coils around them to protect them and keep them warm. It takes about 10-14 weeks for the eggs to hatch. When the young pythons hatch they leave their mum and have to look after themselves. Koala Koalas are marsupials which mean that the females have a pouch where they carry and feed their young. When a baby koala is born it is the size of the jellybean. A baby koala stays in its mother’s pouch for about 6 months. After that the baby koala starts to come out of the pouch and eat gum leaves. When the baby koala is 1 year old they leave their mum and have to look after themselves.
