Evansville Rescue Mission Adopt a Family FAQ’s
What do I have to do to adopt a family?
Please fill out the tear off form and return it to the Evansville Rescue Mission, or fill out our online form no later than December 2,
2013
What should be included in the gifts?
We will provide a list of suggestions for your but please get your family involved and have fun shopping! You are not obligated to
purchase anything from our list. Also, please include wrapping paper, name tags ect.
How will I know what to buy for my family?
You will receive a profile of your family. This will include the recipient’s first names and clothing sizes. We will also include a “wish
list” for each member of the family who is under 18years old.
Can I specify the size and children’s ages of the family I wish to adopt?
Unfortunately we are unable to grant such requests. But please remember every child deserves to have gifts at Christmas time!
Can I deliver the gifts myself?
To protect the confidentiality and dignity of the needy families, the Evansville Rescue Mission will be handling the distribution of the
gifts. Please keep in mind that your gifts may be the only gifts a needy child receives. It can be embarrassing for the parent or the
child to have gifts delivered from an agency.
Should the gifts be wrapped?
This year we ask that you do not wrap your gifts. In order to encourage our parents who are receiving assistance from us we would
like to give them the opportunity to wrap the gifts themselves. This allows the family to take some ownership and responsibility in the
process.
Should the gifts be new?
We prefer that the items be new. However, in the past some used items such as a refurbished computer have been a welcome gift,
please use discretion.
How much does it cost to sponsor a family?
At least 2-3 gifts per child are recommended. Plan on spending at least $50.00-75.00 per child, if you are planning on spending
more than that please consider adopting an additional family, this will allow us to ensure more of the tri-states needy children
receive a Christmas blessing.
How do I sign up to adopt a family?
Please return the enclosed sheet and we will provide you with a family to sponsor.
When I’ve finished putting my Christmas boxes together, when and where shall I deliver them?
Please bring your gifts to Center of Hope Church (808 SE 3rd St, Evansville, IN 47713) between the hours of noon and four pm,
Monday through Friday. Please do not deliver gifts on the weekends, before noon, or after 5pm. The gifts need to be delivered to us
no later than December 20th, 2013
How should I mark my boxes?
Please have all gifts grouped by family. It would be helpful to tape the child’s name on each gift as well.
Are my contributions tax deductible?
The Evansville Rescue Mission is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization as designated by the Internal Revenue Service. Contributions to
the ERM may be tax deductible. Please consult your tax consultant to determine your tax deduction. Our Federal tax ID number is
35-0942622
Will the Evansville Rescue Mission provide me with a receipt for goods I purchased for my family?
Please check with your tax professional. Also keep your receipts and we will send each sponsoring family a thank you card.
