• 4 major regions
– Dissected Till Plains - north of Missouri River, very
fertile soil
– Osage Plains - western MO., between Missouri & Osage
Rivers, flat prairie land; not as rich as Dissected Till Plains; used to
grow corn and other grains
– Ozark Plateau (highland) - southern part of state; south
of the Osage and Missouri Rivers; forested hills & low mountains;
(caves, recreation & tourism)
– Mississippi Alluvial Plain - southeastern corner “boot
heel”; once a swampy wilderness today has fertile farm land
(sometimes called Mississippi lowlands)
