Topic 7 Key Words
Topic 8 Key Words
Alveoli – Tiny air sacs in the lungs that allow gas exchange
Resiratory system– The lungs
Breathing rate– The number of breaths in 1 minute
Breathing depth– Also called tidal volume. It is the amount of air you
breath in and out in 1 breath. Basically it is how deeply you breath
Tidal Volume– Is how deeply you breath. Defined as the amount of
air breathed in and out in 1 breath
Vital capacity– The maximum amount of air you can inhale or
exhale in the most forceful breath possible
Aerobic exercise– Steady exercise. This type of exercise uses
oxygen and no oxygen debt is created
Anaerobic exercise– Fast intense exercise. This type of exercise
does not use oxygen and therefore builds up an oxygen debt
Oxygen debt – The extra oxygen needed to be repaid at the end of
exercise
