Together we offer School Direct applicants the opportunity to qualify with the internationally recognised PGCE. All trainees will spend one day a week at the university working with experienced tutors and trainees from around the area. This will be the time to learn more deeply about philosophies linked to education and key pedagogy. Catmose College Catmose College is an 11-16 provider with a superb reputation within the local community. In 2010 the College moved into a brand new purpose built building. It has seen year on year improvements in results and in 2012 5A*-C results were 96%. Students benefit from fabulous facilities including a theatre, gallery and ICT infra-structure. School Direct – Primary Places We are delighted to be able to offer seven trainee Primary places for 2014. One of those places will be at Catmose Primary (http://catmoseprimary.com/), whilst the other will be at local schools within the Alliance. Qualifications All trainee teachers must have a UK university degree (minimum 2:2 although preference is given to those who hold a 2:1 or above) or a recognised equivalent qualification. If your degree subject does not link closely to the subject you intend to teach, you may improve your ability to gain a place on an ITT programme by following a subject knowledge enhancement course. At secondary level, 50% of your degree must relate to your chosen subject. If unsure please email linda.adcock@ntu.ac.uk For Primary, preference is for a degree in a core subject (Maths, Science, English). To train as a teacher on any programme you must achieve a minimum grade C in GCSE English and mathematics. If you want to teach primary or key stage 2/3 (ages 7 to 14), you must also have achieved a standard equivalent to a grade C in a science GCSE. You will need to complete the Government skills test prior to starting the programme. These do not carry a salary but do allow applicant to apply for a bursary and / or student loan. The level of funding is dependent on degree classification and subject. We are offering a Maths and Science (Physics preference) salaried post at both secondary schools. This will be paid on the unqualified teacher scale.
